Match Day Thread Southampton vs Liverpool Friday 5th April 20:00

As I said before....to beat Liverpool we needed to play well and have a bit of good fortune. The fact that we are no longer just written off against virtually every team in the top half is a massive improvement. The fans' mood going into these games has been lifted since Ralph arrived....bring on Wolves.

 

I can't wait for Ralph to get some signings in. Liverpool had to work so hard to get that win, and in part, they got it as we didn't sit back. Stay in this bloody league and we could have an exciting next season.

Those three midfielders aren't doing anything.

None of it would have happened if Prowse kicked it straight in the Chapel anyway.

 

Was he not offside when he received the ball in the first place though. So it should have been blown then. I had a few by then so could easily be wrong.

Commentator completely missed the point

 

We gave it a bloody good go against a very good team. Offside a little frustrating but they should have had a pen. Oh and one of the 3 should have just smashed Salah for their 2nd.

All in all a good friday night - lets hope we put a sell-on clause in the vvd deal!

 

I think Gunn positioning was wrong though. He was too far over to his right so giving Salah the chance. I think he thought he was going to pass

 

I have a general rule with words like that....it will be Harry Potter or Game of Thrones, so in either case it doesn't matter.

I can’t be angry or upset. We stood toe to toe with one of the best in the league but their quality showed in the end. Well done Saints, great atmosphere and we had their fans silent for much of the game. Hopefully some of the more excitable on here will see a different perspective in a few days.

 

If you want something out of the top teams you have to put in the performance for 90+ minutes not 75. We’re noticeably fitter under RH than Hughes and those before him but it’s not the required level yet. Time for a good pre-season and squad management.

 

I have emailed sky and complained about him being a co Presnter at the game. MLT does carry out comentries on our games on a Saturday. After carriage was suspended for spitting at a surporter he should never had seeked back in as he was. Please email sky sports

No matter how fit you are, a team will need to take a breather at some point. Our first breather was on about 20-25 minutes. JWP, Redders and Shane all eased off the pressing at the same time. That’s not a criticism, just pointing it out. Understandable.
