Morning all. Quite blowy and chilly, but we may see something of the sun this afternoon. You do have to be careful comparing prices. Found some horse manure which looked more expensive than some I had seen elsewhere, yet when worked out in €/per litre it was cheaper. Very much like Poundland selling items that look cheaper, but actually contain less.
Morning all from a brightening island. There was a very threatening dark cloud about an hour ago, but that seems to have passed by. I'm not assuming that we're in for a good day, as the weather this week has been unpredictable to the point where the local forecasters just said what the worst case scenario would be. Anyone having a bet on the Grand National?
Morning all - with the current shenanigans being played out by our leaders it's important to remember the things that really matter. I had to go to a funeral yesterday for my cousins wife. She passed away last month at the age of 47 from vulvar cancer - I'd never even heard of it and apparently it's a rare form of the disease affecting around 1000 women worldwide annually. Sadly she was misdiagnosed and by the time they knew what she had it was too late. The staff at St John's hospice in Moggerhanger were outstanding - thankfully most hospice workers are. Her amazing daughters have been highly active in encouraging their female friends and family to check out anything that doesn't seem right - early diagnosis is absolutely key - so I'll do the same here. Women and men are dying regularly in this country because they are either too embarrassed to tell a doctor about highly personal health issues or they don't want to cause a fuss - sod that and just tell someone! Here's hoping all of you have great weekends and that we are all smiling from ear to ear tomorrow evening
Morning all. Grey and wet here, but mild. My neighbour, the Mayor of the commune was in court on Thursday to hear his fate over not declaring an interest as he stood to gain by having wind turbines on his land. He was fined €3,500 so he got off quite lightly seeing as he could have spent 3 years behind bars. I am not sure yet if the conviction will be enough to bar him from holding public office, but I really think he should resign anyway.
Good wishes... I have lost three friends in the last week.. All in their sixties two with cancer and one to an embolism.. All very challenging... Morning all. A much better day with blue sky overhead, no wind, so just right for a morning tending to my veggies. I am usually joined by a little robin who is very tame and will come within a metre of me, looking for grubs as I turn over some soil. It is very peaceful down the fields, so a good start before the tension starts to kick in.
