Mall Dini out of the Grand National. Just a Par takes his place. Gutted for owner and trainer who aren't having much luck. This follows on the back of Presenting Percy finishing lame in the gold cup.
I see Blaklions owners have bought Don Poli to get over there disappointment of him being injured and Outlander has gone to Richard Spencer’s
Bet 365 have the 'Half your stake back when you place your each way singles bets (up to £125)' offer on again. The each way extra market will be available from 2pm tomorrow
I expect Tiger Roll to pull it off. Vintage Clouds looks the EW banker. I like the late entry, Joe Farrell. Won the Jock national, will definitely get the trip. He was impressive at Newbury two weeks ago and they say he comes on better for his first run. Big burly horse who could do well here. I wouldn't want the ground drying up too much mind.
Despite all the rain on Thursday and earlier today they watered the landing side of the fences after racing today on the national course. Talk about health and safety gone mad! Pathetic really...it's not even just 'good' the going description.
Bet365 only mainstream bookie going 1/4 odds and seem to be pretty much stand out price for lot of the runners. Valseur Lido 100/1 if you fancy a bit of that....
Firstly lets hope that all horses return safe and well and we can promote what a great sport we have and a brilliant race rather than any negative publicity. My three against the field are all Gordon Elliott ones as feel the Irish are handicapped better than ours but am ignoring the Tiger as just too short in the betting. Jury Duty, General Principle and Monbeg Notorious are the three all with elements of decent staying form in their past and probably all had this as their target so not too out off by the poor form this season of the latter two.
Tiger Roll 5/1 for the hat trick in 2020 . I'd love to see him do it but that's a ridiculous price. Bookies got caned yesterday which is always nice to hear even if it wasn't me they were paying out.
There was as much celebration at the Chippenham soup kitchen yesterday evening as there was at Cullentra House. One rough sleeper was reported to have had it off to the tune of £2,260.93 as his return for a £1 stake. That will keep him in roll ups and cardboard boxes for some time. Seriously though, stunning preview of the race chuckles old boy. Meanwhile I am sure that the butler at Chuckles Towers has alerted our Knight of the Realm to the fact that HRH Princess Dogface is the owner breeder of one in the Plumpton bumper today.
Has Dickie said anything regarding ROCK THE KASBAH? All I can find is Hobbs saying that the horse is fine and dandy and that he was brought down by a fallen jockey! I wondered if anchoring him out the back was actually the plan. He made an horrendous blunder early but was starting to pick one or two off when he was brought down. Would just like to hear DJ's assessment.
Sorry for the delay in responding. Was down in God’s own county, Devon, for the first week of the old Easter Hols. Yes, the GN was undoubtedly a good result, for yours truly, this time around – can’t promise such an outcome every year though, regular readers! I don’t mind ‘rough sleeper’ or ‘cardboard boxes’ as we all fall on hard times now and then but ‘roll ups’, old boy, I say ‘roll ups’?!? Do I seem the sort of chap who smokes ‘roll ups’?!? Cor bally blinkin’ blimey not, I say not, I. I all seriousness though the seismic thing for me about this terms GN was, as I highlighted before the race, that the pair of horses in the field with Grade 2 winning form over hurdles, this season, finished 1-2. Is that something to bear in mind in future years re the race??? Good recent hurdling form and secondly might more trainers look at switching disciplines mid-season??? Makes sense as in modern day GN’s you need a nimble, adaptable, comparably speedier beast, rather than the traditional plodding hack, and those switching between hurdles (successfully) and fences tick this box. Certainly eye-catching at any rate that the only 2 animals with that Grade 2 winning hurdles form finished 1-2 in the ‘19 renewal. Meanwhile, I wasn’t actually aware of the Plumpers horse and had to, just now, ask Mr Google about him. That old scout responded promptly detailing me with a comprehensive summary re the events. I see Cloud Formation didn’t achieve much on debut but perhaps that will bring him on and he’ll be better next time – nudge, nudge, wink, wink and all that. But, I would imagine that you have been severely rebuked by the moderators for calling Princess Dogface Princess Dogface but I second your moniker. A dour, cantankerous scrounge (her appalling son-in-law is almost as bad. Seemingly these days he only surfaces for 2 reasons – (i) to wail to the Press Complaints Commission if his name is mentioned, in any context, in the papers, or (ii) to wail to the Social if his latest giro from the Civil List hasn’t arrived on time) who racing fans have never taken to their hearts or indeed clasped to their bosoms like the lovely, and I do mean lovely, Princess Camilla. Let’s hope the forum’s favourite Royal has a good season ahead, incidentally – although I note she’s sold Carntop to Foxtrot Racing. One final thing did you see that your old pal, The Good Doctor, claimed the very exposed looking 7 YO gelding Black Anthem (just 1 win in 23 starts and rated a very lowly 86 over both hurdles and fences) whilst I was away. Intriguing decision and will be fascinating to see what he does with him moving forward. The question, at any rate, has to be asked – What’s The Good Doctor up too?!?
I'm not sure if you have seen this or got your answer, mate... https://blog.betway.com/horse-racing/richard-johnson-betway-blog-aintree-review-grand-national/
