As I did not see the game I cannot say whether your point is right.
I think we all want Wyke to come good, but a goal scorer apparently not.. if he acts as a big one up front as a target man holding the ball up and creating chances for others perhaps that is enough.... until Maguire is back?

Love that. McGeouch punches the air at one point which normally brings a louder “hooray” but it didn’t so it looks a bit daft!!

Great scenes. I almost went if not fir my Mrs having better things for me to do (the bald patch on my head is from her thumb!!)

He did but he also played very well outside of that from what I’ve heard. Goals change games but holding the ball up and being involved makes a big difference. There’s a few saying he was ****e cos of his missed chances but they completely ignore everything else he did

There was a few saying Grigg was **** on Sunday because he didn't see much of the ball but his movement pulled Portsmouth all over and made room for the three behind him.

People see what they want don't they! I know I bleat on about Cattermole but he can play 3 blinding passes over 50 yards and get slagged off for the 4th one when he doesn't find his man (and people will forget the other 3 immediately and respond with "He can't pass for ****") As I say to my son and his team-mates - it's a team game and one of you running makes space for someone else in behind - doesn't matter who scores the goals or gets MOTM - only about the overall outcome.

They certainly do, but I suppose opinions vary and people expect different things of different players. I have to say, while I make no secret that I'm not his biggest fan, I thought Cattermole played several excellent passes on Sunday, including a lovely ball over the top of their defence, but nobody seemed to notice.

I just don't get the slagging of players when they are obviously trying to do well. I don't mind the ones over recent seasons with the players who don't put effort in and sit there taking a wage etc but Wyke, as a perfect example, isn't missing chances on purpose. So chuffed for him last night, especially to get the ovation when he was subbed. Hopefully it will spur him on.

Exactly right fella - if a player gives his all and makes a mistake, at least he's giving his all. Would we rather have a team consisting of Djilibodji, N'Dong and Rodwell type players who just don't give a **** about the club or fans?

Cattermole and Wyke, two entirely different cases. <laugh>

?? Not sure how - Wyke plays well but misses chances, Cattermole plays well but gives the ball away a couple of times - almost identical scenario

True one is a midfielder the other an attacker.

Would that be a midfielder that has scored, and looks more likely to score again, than the forward

Wyke’s part in the equaliser on Sunday was huge, held it and great pass.

Sounds like he was similarly useful last night. Folk are saying ‘we need his goals’ but we are scoring Hat-fulls at minute and he is contributing in other ways.

He’s doing his bit, let’s back him.

Spot on Nads. I wanted him to score the goal that won us that tinpot cup but I would settle for him scoring the goal that guaranteed promotion.

    Stephen Elliott on Twitter.
2 league games in a row Grigg scores. The fact that Wyke is on pitch for both tells a lot. I understand the need for 5 in MF at times but with two forwards with real quality at this level I would rather let teams worry about both them rather than isolate 1 of them #safc.

    I'm in agreement.

And Catts tackled a ball carrier from directly behind, as the attacker was just about to enter our 18 yard box, with space to operate. Never seen anyone pull off a clean tackle from directly behind the ball carrier, especially at that location on the pitch.

We need them both, neither are perfect. I don't really see your point, if there is one.
