Couldn't have wished the first goal on anyone better...so happy for Son...his name will be etched for eternity in Tottenham folklore
One thing I will mention before I turn in and I'm afraid it's a negative. Whoever let off that flare or whatever it was is a massive ****ing dickhead. It appeared to be in the Palace section and it just looked like smoke. Totally irresponsible and ****ing moronic. All good other than that. Night, all!
I hear Uncle Joe was at the game Good stuff...I hope he got a taste of the potential of Spurs and what can be achieved with a bit more backing
Another unwelcome continental influence. Flares, drums, big flags, playing music when you score a goal, twats with megaphones, attacking the opposition's coach approaching the ground, calling yourself 'Ultras' can all just **** off. I don't see that we need to copy any of this ****. Sing your heart out, clap until your hands hurt and the atmosphere will be incredible... Got a week now to get ready for the CL Trippier worries me against Sane I'm expecting it to be an electric atmosphere I hope our players can ride on the crest of that wave like Pool players do when they have a Euro night at Anfield.
Noise levels hard to gauge through the TV. There were periods when you could clearly hear the palace mob above our lot but then again if Lee Dixon of all people commented on multiple occasions how he could barely hear himself think that must mean that the noise was defeaning at times. Or, it simply confirms that he doesn't have a brain. South stand is a masterstroke. DH and the gang there will be conducting the orchestra for the rest of the stadium. There was a powerful rendition of Park lane/Shelf side at one point which bizarrely coincided with someone cutting onions in the same room as me for the duration of the chant. Most peculiar. There did appear to be huge swathes of prawn cocktail folk in the West who (forgive me for sounding bitter) probably wouldn't stand up and sing if their lives depended on it. Hopefully PS can form a West Ultras group and make sure it kicks off there every week...throwing foie gras at the away fans, setting bloodhounds on the 4th official and stuff like that. The other observation I had when the cameras panned across the fans is that there seem to be far fewer of Son's merry band of travelling worshippers than there were at Wembley. And it makes sense as the vast majority of them probably hadn't even heard of Spurs until 4 years ago. I'd imagine they'll find it much harder to acquire tickets than has been the case for the past 2 years.
Don’t be silly CK, the West stand get the gamekeepers to set the dogs on the plebs, they’d never do it themselves! I love this team, as much as we all complain about them. So much going on in that pic alone!
I went to the Legends game with one of my sisters and her Palace supporting hubby. He was saying that there will be issues with the singers, shouters, swearers and standers being mixed in with newbies expecting to avoid all of that 'unpleasantness' and be able to eat their sandwiches in peace. He predicted atmosphere will be an issue. Completely wrong! The club have learned from Arsenal's mistakes and given areas of the stadium identities. Not only have they got identities but they're pretty much identical to the ones that they had at WHL. The Shelf is still The Shelf, the same with The Park Lane, West Stand, etc. Fans know what those stands are and where they belong. We really have 'gone home'. The South Stand's existence and design is genius, but it's even better than that. It contains a Safe Seating area (sssshhhhh - it's really Safe Standing) that's obviously for those who really want to join in. That area drives the rest of that stand and from there, the stadium, where tickets have been sold to existing members, not anyone with £99 and nothing to do at the weekend. This stadium is so very new but really, as Spurlock said, it's just WHL on steroids.
