I sincerely hope someone had the nouse to record the threats and call. He comes across as an odious individual and his interview last week to the media was insensitive and motivated by his own agenda at best!
Cardiff are now refusing to pay the fee citing numerous technicalities to do with paperwork. Technicalities that exist from Cardiff ****ing up bits of paperwork themselves. The premier league and FA should just kick them out of English football and be done with it. We don’t want to be associated with vermin like them.
As far as I’m concerned this is disgusting. Sala was presented as a Cardiff City Player. They should just pay the ****ing fee - regardless. It’s through the irresponsible actions of an agent heavily involved with their club that this dodgy flight was chartered in the first place. Allegedly.
It's disgusting how nasty this saga has become. I fear people are going to forget about the player and his devastating final moments and people will focus on how a load of petty ****s won't pay money that they'll get back in a couple of months anyways.
There is nothing allegedly about the flight being dodgy. Untangling the web of ownership, the operator (does not have to be one and the same) or the organiser of the flight, whoever put plane, pilot and passenger together, could well be beyond the resources of the CAA. Financial and investigators. They may decide their remit is to determine the cause of the crash, not a thorough investigation of the flight's background.
Had the fateful flight not taken place, and Sala duly arrived in Cardiff and played, this legal merry go round would not be happening. Says it all!
I think the AAIB will look into the accident, the CAA will be responsible for licensing and operational matters. Given that the pilot is almost certainly deceased, they might not expend more time than is required to look at his license priveleges, ratings and revalidations, maybe a look at his flying logs as well. You would hope they would look more closely now at the whole issue of aircraft ownership and operations and they 'grey' charter market that seems to be growing.
It has been reported both the aircraft and pilot's logbook were not recovered. There will be an historic record of licenses and ratings held by both the FAA and CAA. Hence the, unconfirmed, revelation he was colour blind. The grey or dodgy charter has been around forever. The cost sharing scheme acceptable to the CAA, was to clarify this for people concerned that taking friends on a flight would be deemed a charter. It became another loophole for some to exploit. The resources are just not there for a clampdown, never mind stopping it.
An interesting documentary, Sala's father passed away 2 weeks after filming this, a really sad story. Cardiff doesn't come out of this well at all. https://www.bbc.co.uk/iplayer/episo...ates-emiliano-sala-a-familys-search-for-truth
Deeply sad story. They say time is the greatest healer and, although money will never bring him back, someone must surely pay for the tragic mistakes that were made, if for no other reason than some other family never again having to go through what his has. One again RIP Emiliano
A man has been arrested on suspicion of manslaughter by an unlawful act in relation to the death of Argentine footballer Emiliano Sala. The striker, who had signed to Cardiff City, died in a plane crash in January along with pilot David Ibbotson. A spokesperson for Dorset Police said a 64-year-old man from North Yorkshire had been arrested and released while investigations continue. The force added the families of the two men who died had been informed.
It is very rare the police become involved in aircraft accidents. Unlike car crashes, they do not have the investigative expertise. The arrest and charges may not equate directly to the flight, they certainly apply to how the aeroplane had been operated prior to the crash. Possibly from day one, all those involved had the legal profession on speed dial, whilst waiting for the door bell ringing.
Martyn Ziegler @martynziegler Report of air accident investigators here into crash that killed Emiliano Sala - tests show Sala + pilot had high levels of carbon monoxide (which can leak into cabin from engine exhaust).
