Not a very good week for football clubs... Times Sport @TimesSport Coventry City have today been issued with a formal threat of expulsion from the Football League after the EFL called an Extraordinary General Meeting of all 72 of its clubs to determine their future.
most clubs thrive at brand new stadiums, but the ricoh may well be the death of coventry. that said, i can't see the other 71 efl clubs voting to expel them.
Even the Allams wouldn't stoop so low. Erm, actually they would wouldn't they. They've done worse things.
David Conn @david_conn Coventry City, formed 1883 by cycle factory workers; 1967-2001 in football's top flight; under owners hedge fund Sisu, relegation & years of losing litigation, lost tenancy of the purpose-built Ricoh Arena; the EFL has now set April 25 as date to consider the club's expulsion....
wonder if clubs have always had ****ty owners or its a modern football thing ie more foreign ownerships instead of people with local connections ?
Another good gate in Birmingham Coventry City 1-0 Sunderland Today's attendance at St Andrew's is 10,055. It's the first time Coventry have reached five figures in a league game at their latest temporary home, although there were more than double that number here for the original FA Cup fourth-round tie with landlords Birmingham City, which was the Sky Blues' 'home game'. This afternoon's gate tops this term's previous league best of 8,990, who were here on Tuesday night for the visit of Rotherham. But this time the Railway Stand at Birmingham has been swelled by 3,323 noisy visiting supporters.
