What about Darren Moore, he was doing good things at WBA only lost 4 and got the elbow, seems to have a footballing brain and if I remember he is still currently out of work. Could be worth a shout and surely can’t be worse than what we’ve had to tolerate lately.
As ever at these (regular) times David McIntyre's providing some decent analysis on Twitter. Interesting comment re Sherwood and the fact Les hasn't yet made an appointment himself (despite many blaming him for every one) and that Sherwood was always his preferred choice. There is a valid suggestion that there would be proper cohesion with Les, Sherwood and Ramsay on board who all have a similar ethos with regards to developing young players and have worked closely together.
If two thirds of that dream team have us where we are today, I reckon the final piece of the jigsaw could get us into League Two in double quick time. Deep joy.
Was hoping for new manager/temporary manager bounce part of the decision to get rid now with 7 games left? I'm not convinced that's going to happen...effort and commitment doesn't seem to have been the problem...we'll see I suppose
That's fair enough. But the same comments can be said over the last few weeks of panic. Eze, Chair, Smyth. Oteh, Furlong - all brought back or in to the first team and playing with some regularity. Under SM only Eze started regularly and has now been dropped along with Furlong the latter to make way for a 36 year old. Sound familiar? All that the Board have done is waste another load of money needlessly in compensation as they must have known what was about to happen with FFP - they agreed it after all. can't wait for his interviews. I'll bet they didn't tell him what was about to befall Project "Next year we'll all be millionaires"
I think that whatever manager comes in will have their hands tied by the clubs finances. The decision to sack Steeeve may also mean that any of the current loanees - if out of contract at their clubs may think twice about coming to the club. Also, with players out of contract twice about staying and extending their deal. With the issues going on at Bolton, I wonder whether someone like Phil Parkinson might fancy the job. I don't want to see Sherwood in the role - whether temp till end of season or not - however if Olly came back till end of season I would not be too disappointed. Also, if Barton was offered the role - he is a marmite person but again I wouldn't be too disappointed. I do not want Chris Powell - his run which lead to his sacking is similar to that of Mclaren. Let's hope that the club make a decision - the right decision - and give the manager time. A year is no good. It takes a while to get the players believing in your methods and then you need the transfer windows to either bring in or sell players that fit or don't fit.
Right. Hughes Redcrapp Ramsey JFH Holloway McClaren Sherwood Perfect logic in the parade of **** managers we specialise in. If it’s Sherwood or Barton at least I won’t even have to pretend to be interested anymore.
Sherwood would be too divisive for an already fractious fan base. So they'll probably do the opposite again and hire a fan fave like Ainsworth. Just don't know that we have that many options.
Much as I like some of the suggestions on this thread, particularly Wagner and Jokanović, are we going to be an attractive enough proposition for this type of manager if we're being realistic about it? Both in terms of wages, and as an opportunity for success? Who wants to manage a slow decline? Will we be able to afford Moore? Another suggestion I like. Yes, WBA sacked him, but I presume they're still paying his salary and won't have to if he takes a contract with us. Much as we're still paying Holloway. I like the Danny Cowley suggestion. Seems to be the type we should be looking at - young, doing well, inexpensive, not a championship failure. Assuming we can afford to compensate Lincoln. Wouldn't be shocked if we look abroad too. Wonder what GiGi Di Canio is up to.
After a period away from the site, this has really drawn me back in! What a bizarre club we really are, a poisoned chalice to a number of so called 'big names'! I seriously think that any manager, anywhere in the world would struggle with the set of players we have. Take a top 7 team in the championship, would they purchase any of our players to better themselves. Freeman and Eze and maybe, just maybe Wzlocek and leistner. We have half a team out of contract in the summer, not allowed to spend, a tiny stadium that we struggle to fill and a reputation for sacking managers! It's not a very tempting club to manage or infact play for. It has been run into the ground from top to bottom by first class idiots whom still seem to have learned nothing over the previous decade. I reiterate what I said after the opening game at Preston. This team is 5/6 players short of competing at this level. I do wonder whether my son will ever forgive me for the pain I have inflicted on him by encouraging him to follow his Dads team.
