To be a captain you need to be a leader... and be in a position to influence the team on the pitch qhich is why I am generally opposed to forwards or keepers being captains. However, Rose completely disrespected the team, his manager and the fans with his arrogant outburst and tbh it would be a ****ing disgrace if he were made captain. I am in a tiny minority but the ****er should have been left to rot in the reserves for being such a mercenary prick . His behaviour was as disrespectful as Berbatovs and Modric imho. Prick should be grateful he ain't booed at every home game by us.
The goalkeeper of all positions needs to exude confidence and I have never found Lloris to do that. Most of the time he looks like a worried man. I have always looked hard at him and thought, is he really one of the best in the world? Young gazza on the other hand looks like a goalkeeper should look. Confidence explodes from the young man. This is my area RIGHT!
That's true HBIC but without it you cannot lead. Taarabt was arrogance personified and any confidence was misplaced as many of us could clearly see.
I don’t think it’s an overreaction, I think it’s more a case of reaching boiling point. You can go back to early this season and also last season to find posts about Lloris messing up. It’s now just at a stage where I personally - and it seems others too - are now fed up of him. He’s more a hindrance than an asset, and touching on what Brian said with regards to the game changing, he’s being left behind by the new breed of keeper who are not just good shot stoppers but also great with their feet - something Gazzaniga has shown to be adept with, yet we consistently bench him for a guy who’s delivering more heart-in-mouth moments these days than assured displays. Hate to say it but we’re never gonna progress if we persist with mediocrity. Poch, just as much the players, need a massive kick up the arse and some strong decisions need to be made.
Cardiff is no benchmark for Tottenham in any way shape or form...they are dog ****...I'll be thinking myself lucky I'm not a Halifax Town supporter next.
He won’t be around much longer anyway. His performances are still nowhere near the pre-16/17 injury, he still can’t seem to play too regularly and there are other FBs coming through who are looking better and so we need to keep up. I wouldn’t lose any sleep if he were sold in the summer. That goes for Hugo, Trippier, Aurier, Wanyama, Winks and Lamela, too. All either too injury prone, declined in ability or just not good enough.
We’ll likely be losing Toby and Eriksen this summer. While the likes of Hugo, Trippier, Aurier, Rose, Winks, Wanyama, Lamela, Llorente and Janssen are all either declining, injury prone or just not good enough. That’s not over reacting, it’s stating the obvious.
The whole season has been difficult for all the reasons we have discussed numerous times. The World Cup, The new Stadium, The transfer market, Injuries, fatgue, and so on. It really is naive to think it will get better as the season progresses, it can't can it! This has been a season to get through rather than being able to expand and move forward in. Many said at the beginning of the season they did not expect us to make top 4. That's what we need to do and then move forward with some new players and a new stadium in the new season. Having said that we are still in the CL with just the small hurdle of Man City to overcome to reach the semi final. Not bad for a poor season.
He’ll be 33 at the end of next season. I’d happily give him an extension but I do have a feeling he may want to finish his career back at Ajax.
True. But he still oozes class, authority, and most of all he’s calm under pressure. Lloris gives off the exact opposite, imo.
This should have been the season to improve. Instead it’s looking like the season that’s at the beginning of the decline of this once promising side.
