Shows how far behind Williams really are!!!!!! Kimi was so lucky twice, managed to scrape through Q1 and Q2. Gasly better pull his socks up quick as Helmut isn't the most patient man plus Albon is doing better than Kvyat!!!!! Haas are doing well again. McLaren are significantly faster than Renault! Good to see Mclaren performance at Aus wasn't a one off.
No action, Vettel successfully argued that his tyres were so badly flat-spotted that it was unsafe to do the minimal in-lap time.
I guess Williams can take a bit of solace in Kubica's performance. Damaged car, not allowed on the curbs, a fraction behind his team-mate. Perhaps his career isn't as over as it was last week.
That's good. Hopefully it will be a good fight as LeClerc is 0.5 sec ahead of the other 3 who seem very close.
He still seems to be saying Williams need to find out why the Williams cars are performing differently!!!! I don't know if the slower Williams is helping Kubica or given a faster car could he be closer to the front? With the Williams being so slow it's sort of putting a cloud over Kubica and sort of doubt if he is capable, I suppose his team mate isn't exactly beating him by much.
Sounds like Vettel was to blame: https://www.autosport.com/f1/news/142464/norris-penalised-grosjean-screwed-over-by-vettel
Quite probably, but it's good to have the top 4 cars at the front of the grid. Might be an interesting race? That would have been spoilt if Vettel had been penalised so maybe Ferrari International Assistance kicked in
How long before Vettel begins to get rattled, he is already making small mistakes. If the young buck keeps this up it won't be long and he will make mistakes of the nature of last year. More to it, Le Clerc has the seat Verstappen (the boy) would love to have, I really hope he is a thorn in Verstappen's side for many a year.
I was just thinking I wonder if Vettel will hold it together at the start especially if he is overtaken by one of the Mercs. Max is sort of stuck at the moment, well other than the multi year contract, Ferrari have LeClerc, I doubt after the altercation with Occon Merc would want him so no top team for him to go to!
I think despite Max's obvious flaws any team would still snap him up. One of Vettels strongest points is quali pace and first lap pace. If LeClerc can match him there he may be in trouble.
The "Ricciardo situation". Like Ricciardo, both are pinning their hopes on Renault/Honda producing a competitive engine. I hope the regs don't change in 2021, otherwise I fear Mercedes will disappear into the distance again. I think both are pinning their hopes on Hamilton retiring once he has nothing more to prove. In some ways a Ferrari WDC this year screws them over, they'd do better with Hamilton taking 2019 and 2020, then retiring before the new regs with 7 WDCs and over 100 race wins.
Missed the cut off but I’m going for Lewis, Merc have the pace for me and a Ferrari are bound to FUBAR it up.
Never really watched Sky coverage but just watched Martins grid walk. Is it normal that he mainly speaks to Celebs and not many drivers or team personnel?
It's fairly common. I think it's got a lot harder to get time with the driver's, etc. When he started he was the only one doing it, so he could approach who he liked. Now most TV networks have a version of it, and it's all very arranged so that he knows who (from the grid) he has time with.
Brundle talking to that bloke thinking it was Guy Richie Much windier today than FP2- I wonder if that will help Ferrari cool their tyres? I was expecting them to suffer a little with tyre life but if the wind has cooled things down they might be clear of the pack by some way. Headwind down the pit straight...we should see some head to heads down there through the midfield!
The wind might help the more experienced drivers. Hopefully it gives us a good race as it adds a bit of unpredictability.
