Yes, I agree it is rushed. And maybe you could have gone for a manager with more experience even though the last big names did not work out I don't think the media will put too much pressure on him. Well compared to being a manager at Real or Bayern or other elite clubs Considering Moyes, LVG and MOu's failings the press were pretty kind to them If they had got those results even with Chelsea (not saying we are an elite club), they would have been crucified much earlier
Tbh I won’t be surprised either...foootball is a funny old game Tel. Summer is going to be interesting...can’t see us going 3 windows without signing anyone...hopefully we can sign Louis Saha or Zabaletta or someone...anyone.
Don't get me wrong, I want it to be him and definitely don't want us dipping into the 'experienced' manager merry go round again. I just think it could/should have waited. He could be looking for players in the secure knowledge the job was his anyway, that's not a problem.
It’s a problem for the player if he doesn’t know Ole is going to be manager. The minute the player’s agent was told Ole is the manager the press get hold of it and there you go, soiled celebration.
I wonder what's happened behind the scenes for this to be announced so suddenly and without any pressure. In particular the influence of Fergie. I'm only guessing here, but it's not just about Ole in isolation, I think Fergie would've had some say on the support and the patience the board must give Ole if they offer him a permanent contract. At the same time he will be advising Ole to look at the long term goals not the short-term setbacks, and he'll hopefully be there to support him.
Hopefully he won’t be there to support him. I’m bored of Fergie being associated with the manager position, 6 years after he retired. Ole has to do this with his own staff and be careful not to undermine himself in front of his players. He will play the United way anyway as it’s all he knows, so I’d rather Fergie was left out of it now.
I believe it's the transition that should've happened 6 years ago but never did. I certainly don't want Ole to be dependent on Fergie's support in the long-term, but for the immediate future I think it's a good thing, his experience is far beyond Ole, but Ole has the grounding to take it on board and move on.
That’s why I think Mike Phelan is so important, I don’t think Fergie being around the dressing room is good for anybody anymore.
He backed Moyes and urged patience. But he was only given a season. Why should Fergie have a say anyway? Is he employed by the club to choose managers?
