Argyle in twelfth spot but only three points above the drop zone ! unbelievable really, anyone from them on down who goes on a bad run now could be doomed !!
Its great that we've really picked up form and the form table proves this. But alarmingly, other clubs around us are also picking up crucial points. Who would have thought that with the brilliant form that we've been on that we would only be just 2 points off the relegation zone. And form doesn't last does it, so at some point our form will drop off and that's when things can become extremely anxious.
If we lose those games as long as the score is just 1 difference I believe that our GD will save us at the end of season as long as we beat the side down with us in the league
Saturday games coming up.... Just the three 6 pointers! Walsall (21st on 42 points) vs Barnsley Wimbledon (22nd on 39 points) vs Gillingham (16th on 44 points) Bradford (24th on 36 points) vs Blackpool Burton vs Accrington (15th on 44 points) Coventry vs Oxford (19th on 43 points) Peterborough vs Southend (20th on 42 points) Plymouth (12th on 45 points) vs Rovers (13th on 44 points) Rochdale (23rd on 38 points) vs Scunthorpe (17th on 44 points) Shrewsbury (18th on 43 points) vs Portsmouth
Oxford and Wimbledon have the same record of form as us in the last 5 games. So if we are feeling good about our chances, so are they! Played 5 Won 3 Drew 1 Lost 1
As a guide l have always used the rule that even points per game is relegation country and one and a half per game is land of the play offs. As it stands, if you apply the 'top six form' to those clubs below is in the league, (and they ain't going to get it), l can't see Rovers need to be too nervous about their position. Also all other teams need the extra point for the goal difference. Anything from the next two games would be a bonus!
Decent game yesterday and you are a respectably decent side. I think a point apiece was a reasonable result in the end even if we did take the lead twice. I do not think either of us have a lot to worry about even if the current points tally doesn't exactly back that up. You will get enough points to survive easily and I think so will we. I cannot see more than 48 points being needed and base that on the fact so many of those in the mire have to play each other and they won't all get a run of results. Most still think 50/51. That's two wins out of 7 or in your case 8 games. Both sides are good enough for that. I see there was some trouble outside the ground yesterday after the match. Why oh why do the knuckle dragger mob always have to use football as their excuse for being a moron. The atmosphere in the ground during the game was decent and chanting went back and forth in what seemed a jokey manner. Not suggesting the knuckle mob were your's either, Argyle have their fair share of them I know. I never understand why they have to wait for a match. They all have mobiles these days and could easily just arrange to meet up to kick the crap out of each other without it being a Saturday afternoon.
Thanks for the comments. I think you are right re the relegation threat for both clubs. Ive 'followed Rovers for much about the same length of time you have for Plymouth. Historically l can't recall us having too many of the ugly mob. Not so with our neighbours, Millwall or Chelsea. Never understood the mentality! Wish you well for the rest of the season. We need as many local derbys as possible. Give Exeter and Swindon a shove and all will improve.
Gillingham, Oxford and Rochdale were the only teams to win out of all the teams in this battle. After our draw with Plymouth, Oxford are now the inform team out of all teams in this battle, then its us.
Our game on Tuesday against Donny is the only game in our league. So we have a chance here to push further away. We could go 12th and 6 points clear, 7 points really if you count our goal difference. Massive chance to take some pressure off.
Donny are in terrible form - 4 pts from their last 6 games 20th in the form table, so reckon the lads can get a decent result up there.
