Morning all - roll on next week and the start of the flat Just one today. Like the look of Worthy farm in the 335 at Kelso.
Dickie Johnson could have a good day today at Newbury, some competitive races but he looks to have some pretty decent rides. But in saying that here's the three I've backed at Newbury today: 2:05 - Classic Ben 9/2 2:40 - Elysees 6/1 3:15 - Annie Mc 10/1
Usual wealth warning about info received… The last one I got from my mate turned out to be a right donkey; however, this one appears to be well fancied and has won four of its last six: KELSO 2:25 – JOKE DANCER
Former festival winner Ted Veale surely shouldn't be 40/1 in the Joke Dancer race up at Kelso. He maybe knocking on a bit but he's 6lb better off with the favourite from the last time they met and was beat by less than 10 lengths and has his ground. There maybe just one more day in the sunshine for this ol fella if the Alexanders have managed to sweeten him up. 4 places at 33/1 ew for me. Good luck all.
Joke Dancer for me. The going was GS last time and again today, but that was an easy 9 length victory. An anagram of Ted Veale is Elevated so maybe he IS improving! Others: Kalahari Queen in the Kelso opener - how this can be third fav in a field of four is beyond me. Some Chaos in the 3-00 given a nod of approval by Scu in the Opening Show. In the 3-35 the value as I see it is with Tomkevi - if you like second fav Captain Drake at 4-1, then you have to like Tomkevi at 14's. At Newbury I'm hoping for a return to form from Ziga Boy in the 2-05 at 14-1. First run back after a 2 year absence was quite encouraging, for all that he failed to finish. The 2-40 is a tricky little race but I'm going with the Jedd O'Keefe trained Groveman and in the 3-15 Sweet Adare can run a big race at lucrative odds. Good luck all
Afternoon all...doing the following bets today: Newbury 2.05pm Strong Pursuit 3/1. Needs to back up his last run after nearly two years off but he looks to have been given a golden opportunity here. He runs off a mark 3lb lower than his hurdle one and is open to plenty of progress with Richard Johnson taking the ride. Newbury 3.50pm Valdez 2/1. A previous eye catching run here when finishing behind San Benedeto and Gala Ball. He would have finished closer that day if not for the loose horse impeding him and today could be his day. He has been given some tough tasks in his last 5 runs including in grade 1 company against Altior and the Grand Annual at the cheltenham festival on second start last year. His 3 runs this season will have put him spot on for this and I am expecting a big run especially with the trainer in hot form. In the 5.00pm I expect Get in the Queue to win this and for Noel Fehily to bow out in style with a winner. Nimby would have rated as the main danger for the same owners but is now a non runner. I think its a no bet race for me as favourite is odds on. Good luck all.
A lucky 15 to avoid Kel 225 joke dancer Kel 335 worthy farm New 205 classic Ben New 315 the white mouse Cheers.
In the 2.05 Newbury Strong Pursuit is favourite but his last race has not worked out well and he'd been off for 15 months before that third place effort. A chance he might bounce perhaps and I prefer Classic Ben. Classic Ben had some winning Hurdle form and got off the mark in Chases last time. Only 6YO and their is winning form from the races he's been running in. I feel he will run well today in this Class Three race from a 4 lb higher mark than his Sandown win in Grade Two Class. 2.05 Newbury Classic Ben 5/1
hi fellas! newbury,2 05: JOE FARELL ran a sound race on his first start after his scottish national heroics last time out,and has been dropped 2 lbr for that effort,so can go well here..
Chic Name .... 9/2 with that recent form? Someone knew! Onwards and hopefully upwards with Joke Dancer next
solid start for me.he did nothing wrong there. kelso,2 25: very tough race, but i like the look of IRISH ROE here.shes a a tough and battle-hardened mare, and even if her last win was two years ago,she has run some good races in between, and also in a listed race last time out, where she faced a tough enough task against the likes of lady buttons and co.drops now back into handicap company, and her mark loks fair enough.
