So how many of this 11 will we keep come May? Chalobah I know goes back to Chelsea. God, we need Judge, Collins, and perhaps Keane, if Hull talks go well. I feel much more positive about things now. And especially the slow but vital changes at the Club.
Great game, well played lads, fine performance and we threw everything at them. One for you Mr Keane! Bring on next season...treat all remaining games as pre-season training, build the confidence, sign up striker or two...and very positive season to come.
That was a great game of football. With a better striker we would've scored 3 or 4 today. There were several moments of individual skill that got you out of your seat and some good on the deck passing. First 20 minutes of the first half and the entire second half was all us. Constant attacking pressure, overlapping runs and plenty of movement had Forest on the back foot and this performance deserved a win. Keep playing like this and we'll be fine in League One. It will also give us the best chance of signing Judge, who is playing well and is the one player we really need to add in the summer. Judge was great, Edwards was a threat, Bish carried the ball well and made some fantastic tackles. Chalobah brings so much more to the team than Skuse and had a good game. Kenlock and Bree added to the attack and the CB's kept Forest at bay. Quaner was good first half but tired later, Jackson had one of his best games but couldn't quite add a goal. Bart still a bit shaky. Well done lads, there are plenty of positives to write about today. I'm proud of all the boys today and Lambert for continuing to play to win. It's not time to just start planning for next season, playing like this is preparing the team and getting them used to Lambert's style.
Not unless we are going to sign him permanently. He’s getting paid a fortune to develop himself while our own players get U23 football instead.
If he was the only loan we take next season then I'd be happy enough. We will dip into the loan market for a couple of players, just not the number we have now.
I think it will be more about whether we can keep the likes of Bart and Bish. We need to sign an entire defence and forward line - 7 or 8 players, so hopefully the rest of the squad will at least not go backward.
Really enjoyed that.Good performances all round, best I’ve seen from Nolan and Kenlock in particular.Had PR rocking and a shame ,once again,we couldn’t get it over the line for a win
Hey Spanish. If you want to have your head in the clouds that’s up to you. But at the moment we still have Marcus Evans running the club and a ****load of problems to solve. Hopefully Evans will change his approach and back Lambert but I’m not holding my breath.
Yep. I forgot to mention Nolan, who did have a good game as you say. He covered a lot of ground and helped out in defence as well as making runs into the Forest box. Having Judge, Nolan, Edwards and Bishop all on the pitch is working quite well. They interchange positions, exchange passes and are starting to play the right balls and understand each other's game. I didn't really notice Skuse so much but when Chalobah came on his contributions were more memorable. We now have ball carriers who will take on opponents or attack space. I was happy with the attacking we displayed today. Bishop is a well rounded midfielder now. He looks stronger and competitive and I've noticed this season that he's actually quite talented when it comes to tackling. He's not sticking a foot in here, there and everywhere but he times recovery tackles very well. Judge looks like he is enjoying the freedom given to him by Lambert and Edwards is benefiting from starting games regularly.
We would have win if it wasn't for the worst Referee that has ever officiated at Portman Road for many a long year! Stroud should have been pensioned off years the useless fooking tw@t! He cost us points at Villa when he denied us a stone bonking pen and gave them the softest one you'll ever see. Why the fook did he disallow Nolan's goal yesterday is beyond me! Anyhoo happy overall with the progress we are making football sues under Lambert and if we can keep the nucleus of this team together and add one or two quality players in the Summer there's no reason why we won't plough our League 1 next season. I can't help wondering where we might have been if we had signed just one decent striker instead of the dross we wasted so much money on, but that aside I can't complain at the quality of football we are now playing,so instead of being bored to tears by MMs " style " of play I now am entertained by an attacking display from the first whistle, now I know results are terrible and relegation is nothing to be pleased about but if Evans drops the season ticket prices to a reasonable level and backs PL to a realistic level in an attempt to get back to the Championship then I will probably get a season ticket again. Make no mistake we are in for a culture shock next season going to some grounds which are little more than a local park with a few sheds on, but that might give some of the players a wake up call and realise how lucky they are to play at PR and the the training facilities that go with it, so come on Evans after strangling the Club from the inside for years its time to step up and fund the campaign with whatever's needed, it's your Club for Christ's sake. L
Just seen the highlights, looked like we played some really good stuff, we just need a little bit more luck and better finishing. Whatever this crazy season shows is to the majority of fans, supporting Itfc is more than just getting results, it's about playing with hope that things will get better, an identity and connection to the club. It's unbelievable to think fans are turning up, cheering the team off whilst cut far adrift at the bottom of the table whilst last year comfortably in midtable there was animosity between the club and the fans. Whilst I don't want us to be relegated and I've always been one to think it wouldn't be a good thing, I couldn't have put up with another season simply trying to exist, I'm fed up of feeling I have to go to Portman Road out of loyalty rather than actually wanting to go. We've lost a whole generation of supporters the past few years, due to the impact of a number of poor decisions which is why we are where we are today. I hope the feeling at the club today will bring a new generation of supporters to the club and bring back many who have left because they'd rather do something else on a Saturday afternoon. The club now need to make the most of this good will with regards to their ticket offering for next season now, so that we get great attendances and the place to be rocking.
