Essentially - * God knows how we'll line up, who we'll try etc making really coming up with a prediction difficult! * Forest a lot better at home than away, however depending on their Aston Villa game may have a shout of play offs. Any thoughts?
He’ll no doubt have a wry smile on his face given our predicament, which is ironic given his relationship with MM. My own reaction at the match will be to ignore him,I don’t see any point in giving him the opportunity to play the pantomime villain, something we have often done with Neil Warnock to our own detriment.
I think that happened last night with Millwall & Rotherham both winning away ! Wining away, what is that all about anyway ?
Surely after last night's results Lambert has to drop the pretence in his press conference this afternoon. It could be mathematical as early as Bolton.
Looks like that mini league Lambert mentioned a couple of months ago is happening well above us as we (along with Bolton) have been cast adrift and Rotherham, Wigan, Reading & Millwall scrap it out to avoid 3rd bottom. At this stage I'd be content with 2nd bottom and 30+ points and at least we don't look like setting a new record low points tally.. In fact we could well surpass Rotherham's 23 points from 2016-17 this weekend, so at least we won't have that dishonor hanging over us.
I actually feel like this could be one of those games where we seem to get more things right than not and come away with a 2-1 win. Harrison should be back in contention which helps a bit and based on Brizzle match, we have a few options across the pitch (except up front) which we haven't had for a while and it will be interesting to see how we line up as Collins, Pennington, Knudsen, Bree, Bish, Skuse & Downes could all be pushing for a start. Goals from Judge and Edwards and obviously one of Murphy or Grabban for them.
I just don’t see any point at all in playing the loans now. I would not be feeling any sense of duty toward players that have contributed to a pathetic season and will trot off back to their clubs in a few weeks. Unless they are going to sign permanently (Keane / Judge) we should be preparing for the new campaign, which I have to say I am very excited about.
I tend to agree (to a point) but I'm not sure which Loan signings we can say with 100% certainty either way will or won't be here (if we wanted them).. and whether we can be so picky given our injury situation. Pennington & Chalobah are certainties to not be with us, I think we all agree.. but have arguably been our 2 best players and Trevoh in particular has added something to the side. Quaner is very unlikely to be with us, but it's a case of needs must given our lack of options up top. Keane and Bree are possibilities, but also unlikely.. But in the case of Keane, has been the standout from our cohort of strikers (not a great achievement) Anyone forget about Callum Elder? He could be with us to provide competition with Kenlock. It's a difficult one for Lambert as he has to balance trying to win games with preparing for next season so I imagine we'll see a few more line up changes like we did this week, with some of the loanees (and Knudsen) used sparingly but still getting some gametime.
Performances seem to have been good recently and I think if we had a fit Keane and Sears up top I'd be far more confident a winning this but we just don't have any fire power. Heck I'd even say we'd still be in the fight if Sears was fit as it seemed Lambert had moved to playing 2 up top and Keane and him would've made a decent top 2.
Quaner, Pennington Bree back in and Jackson dropped again. This does not fill me with confidence for our future under Lambert. However with Edwards in the side we always have a chance of nicking a goal. COYB
A Win at last, to send the Home faithful screaming in delight & disbelief! 2-1...easy, easy, they chant thru the clanking turnstiles on the way out, with a spring in their step, knowing, as all now do, that it will B L1 footie in August, but fresh challenges, and new hope.
