    T
TOM the problem is when city are under the cosh not dictating play Pack and Brownhill are no where near good enough for top end championship football.
Our strikers are not good enough at top end championship football.
Nikki and the defenders are top end championship players.
We need to sort midfield and striker issues for next season if we are serious of a challenge.

I still think we are a decent striker away from being a very good side....I'm not convinced we currently have one..

I agree, the striker situation was plain to see well before the deadline, it hurt us in 08, it hurt us last season. We don't seem to learn, SL has backed the club well with finances (just ask Redprintt....), but on each of these occasions when we have been well positioned and it really mattered, he hasn't (assuming it's SL, as he's the only common link between these 3 seasons) backed it up with paying for a striker we all knew we needed.

I think the lack of action on that front will sink our season and if it isn't obvious to the right people what's the point? Another must win goes begging and we have probably lost the plot but as in all things you just never know - just hope?

In fairness in August we thought we had one in Weinman, when it was confirmed we never and Diedhiou was back and gained fitness we went through a unbeaten streak until end of January. At that time we needed a forward but was not really desperate to pay more than double the odds for someone. To me the January window is more of a hinderance than an opportunity, as prices are sky high.
In order for Assombalonga to come was relying on Boro getting their target which no doubt was relying on another club getting their target. The fee was well published as agreed so SL was backing LJ.

However let’s put things into perspective since we’ve been beaten by Wolves (they started the rot last season as well) we’ve lost to Norwich away, Leeds and Birmingham at home and drawn PNE away. We’ve only lost those games by the odd goal scoring 4 goals ourselves.
2 of those teams would be in my honest opinion the top two of this division, one is a Prem team which is top of the teams in that two tier league. PNE and Birmingham who were both on good runs.
Our striker that everyone moans at scored 2 of those goals.

Out of those 4 games if you would of asked me how many points we would of got I would of said 2 and that’s the one at PNE and the other against Brum.

Where do I think we will finish, 8th which is still year on year improvement. Where do I think we will improve in the summer I think it will be a forward at a far better price than in January.

We have needed a striker - and it was recognised and efforts were made which unfortunately didn’t pay dividends. We will simply have to make do until the end of the season. However, the playoffs are still a realistic possibility and we should have our sights firmly on them.

It’s only the Birmingham result I was disappointed with really , Wolves , Norwich and Leeds were always going to be tough games. Nothing has changed for me yet.

Tuesday is the real test, if we can shrug off the defeats and get back into winning ways, because that’s been our Achilles heal, you are never going to go a whole season without barren spells, it’s being able to get back to form again relatively quickly that will define our season.

You really haven’t got a clue have you? Brownhill not up to top end Championships?? He’s a Premier League player in the making

Everyone here saying we needed a striker - you're not wrong guys but if that striker doesn't exist then we can't exactly blame the club.

As has been said, January is far harder to buy in, and we might be better off waiting until the summer and giving it a proper go next year.

You on drugs firstly he ain’t got the vision, secondly he has not got the legs.
Christ I thought him and Pack forgot which way to kick the ball yesterday. It seemed to go backwards more than forward. Both completely out of their depth against a quality side.

Require a clear out in midfield and upfront and we go again.

Must sign Desilva and Kalas not so sure about Palmer.

I think we require a dominating centre midfielder and a top striker. Definitely not a 'clear out'. Brownhill has been immense this season I genuinely don't know what matches you watch <doh>

No one knows what game he watches mate. Remember he told us Taylor is the best striker we’ve got.

I reckon we will finish 10th. Villa, PNE and Sheff Wed all to overtake us. Tailing off again like last season.....

I put us down to 10th on another thread. Knowing LJ will probably take us on another unbeaten run to get us going to going onto another winless last four games.

If that happens, the LJ haters will be constantly unfolding and folding their sheets <laugh>
