Ipswich '98 play-off semi Hartlepool title collecting game Palice relegation game They were special games bummie, Portsmouth last Saturday , I think not. Only 7,500 bums on seats as well last night, ask your chum SeriouslyRidiculous where were the missing thousands last night.
Sounds like a good win last night. With Luton now 9 points clear of 3rd place, we have a very small chance of coming 2nd. 8 points behind Barnsley, with 9 games to go. It’s become a slightly odd end to the season - almost like a Phoney War.
It was a good win, but not really a good performance after the first 15 minutes. After the quality second goal went in Charlton gradually faded, and spent most of the second half defending that one goal lead. In the end our defence was stout enough to prevent Burton equalising, and they lacked the quality that Taylor and Reeves displayed for that second goal. A ground-out win, with just enough work done to get the points. This is understandable, given it was three days after a big game against Portsmouth. Lee bowyer talking about the team being tired is a bit worrying - this was the first midweek game we've had to play in about 8 weeks. Most of the teams above us in the table have had various Cup games to play as well. We should be relatively well rested compared to them. We are nailed on for the play-offs now, but will the team have anything left to give? Last season the answer was no. I'm not sure the answer will be different this time around. If we do fall at the semi-final stage again I certainly won't be blaming Lee Bowyer, Johnnie Jackson or Steve Gallon. The fault will lie with Duchatelet and Driesen. It's unbelievable that we have an owner who is not only disinterested, but actually does not want the team to win promotion. His sabotaging of the squad is not something LB should have to deal with.
Next season is a scary thought whatever division we're in. The Fosu of last season has disappeared, without the likes of Bauer, Cullen and Taylor, it will not be a pretty sight.
I wouldn't mind betting that Dillon was only signed on a new contract so he could be sold this summer!
At the beginning of the season I thought promotion would force RD to make a decision; invest properly or sell the Club. Unfortunately now I don't think even a glorious play-off final in at Wembley and a return to the Championship for Charlton will budge Duchatelet one inch. I believe now he will simply ignore the promotion. I think the budget will be cut further, not increased. Our manager (whoever that is) will be asked to fight a Championship campaign with players who are of poorer quality than the ones LB and SG managed to get in the summer of 2018. Free transfers, journeymen, kids and crocks. Gallen has already admitted as much. And on top of that we will lose at least ten players who will walk away for nothing this summer. Charlton will crash back out of the Championship. The consequences could be worse still, when Duchatelet feels the backlash (which will sadly go beyond graffiti I should think). He could lose his rag completely and cut off all funding. Administration and a points deduction - probably for season 2020-21 - are likely. All the Belgian has to do in order to put himself and the rest of us out of our collective misery is SELL THE CLUB! But he won't. So all the trouble that follows will be on him.
The budget will definitely be cut further, regardless. Duchatelet doesn’t give a S hit what league we are in. Cut cut cut.
Sorry Lardi but that is wrong. He would not put the Club into Administration as the sale of the Club's assets would pass to the Administrator and the Belgian's 'Loans' would be treated like all other Creditors. He would be far better off selling the Club himself at a lower price than £30m rather than Administration.
RD is pathologically stubborn. He will not sell the Club unless the price covers every penny he has spent since 2014. In the real world of course this is never going to happen. So - once relegation is inevitable next season and some fans really go to war against him - Duchatelet will retaliate by liquidating the Club. Once he does that, the conflict will spiral even further out of control. It will become a scandal bigger than Blackpool or Bolton Wanderers or Coventry City.
Laughable and embarrassing comment , you were not even there , you were doing your sad Billy no mates tour . Saturday was brilliant and you can’t tell me it wasn’t , was the best home game for years certainly better atmosphere than the title winning game , I can make that comment as I was at both
thought Fosu was sh1t last night. he was letting people jog past him and not even trying to stop them. when you compared him to how taylor was playing, it was night and day. taylor will burn out if he has to carry others like Fosu who are just going through the motions.
Has @Royston Vasey come in for a new suit? or perhaps a shirt to replace the one he lost yesterday at Cheltenham?
