When you have people like Anjem Choudhary being given a platform on television to tell people that 'ISIS isn't what it's made out to be' and 'people enjoy living with them' and 'Western media are lying about the Islamic State', whilst using very convincing lexicon to persuade others (baring in mind he was training to be a Lawyer before he became an extremist preacher), it is not unreasonable to think these kids were swayed by the same rhetoric. Hanging a kid for an admittedly outrageously terrible life choice will not solve the root cause of these issues. If anything, it will play into the hands of ISIS and will enhance their radicalisation tactics. We need to think about the wider ramifications of these incidents. This isn't the solution.
Where Dick's comparison goes wrong is that the average City Boy buys their nose sherbert directly from whoever is importing the drugs into the UK, which in the case of coke would be from Albania (at least it was the last time I could use The Independent's website without the pages being blocked off as they nagged me to turn off AdBlocker...) while the gangs skulking in the shadows of Hackney, Romford, Tower Hamlets etc also have to buy their coke from those gangs - so the middle class cocaine user can't be blamed for the gang-related stabbings, because that's like saying that if one person bought a Pot Noodle from Tesco and went on a shooting rampage that means everyone else who bought a Pot Noodle from Tesco is as much to blame for the shooting rampage as the one person who did it.
