Went to a Birmingham v Villa match later eighties. Scariest match I have ever been to. All the windows in the pub were smashed out before the game and the atmosphere was toxic
I did a WBA & Villa match a few years ago, and it was mental. Very intimidating. Seats were getting ripped up & fights breaking out. They got some big fines.
Just saw it - as Grealish is coming back onto the pitch the steward holds him from getting back on and drops a knee into his back. Steward then gets escorted out by police
Steward shouldn't have done that if true, but was also foolish of Grealish to jump into the crowd when you consider how toxic the atmosphere was. Could have wound up the Birmingham fans even more. Understand it, but not wise.
https://www.bcfc.com/news/articles/2019/club-statement Birmingham apologise to Grealish and AV and say the idiot concerned will be banned for life.....they may not have said idiot, but should have.
Celta Hampton lost again, they're in major La Liga trouble. Outside the bottom 3 by a point, but no one has fallen off the bottom like Huddersfield/Fulham. So I'm guessing they won't be spending £15m on Boufal or Hoedt.
The Arsenal fan coming on there has arguably just increased the chances of the FA coming down hard on Birmingham. If ever there was evidence for the FA that the actions of one fan can spiral, there you go. Has to be cut out. Have to come down very, very hard on Birmingham.
You can’t punish a whole club for one persons actions and I’d be shocked if they get anything more than a fine.
Blimey, this and the two racists at St Mary's yesterday are bringing out the best of British! Bring back the birch I say. Flog 'em within an inch of their life. Hang 'em by the neck till they're brain-damaged then ship them to Devil's Island to rot for eternity. Or, let the clubs, FA and the Police take steady, calm action that's been thought through and carefully considered. Vin
Agree, there has to be a severe punishment for the club. Something like having to let someone like Che Adam leave for a cut down price to a saintly club.
Doubt they would have anyway...they just aren't big spenders. But check out their goal differential; heck, check the goal differentials of every club in La Liga. It's incredibly flat; Celta's in the relegation zone at -9, Real Madrid and Getafe are in the CL spots at +12. A weird sort of parity has descended on Spain...and for our #undrawables watch, Valencia's quest to draw the majority of its matches (they were at 60% draws until a couple unfortunate wins) is equally unusual. The PL record is 17, 18 in La Liga; with 15 on the board and 11 games to play, it's a very real possibility.
