Tbf to Tottenham, they have occasionally tried to persuade their fans to stop singing it; but their supporters - and that does appear to include their Jewish support- won’t have it. I think you’d struggle to find a Jewish Spurs fan who finds it offensive. I know David Baddiel does, but he supports Chelsea ffs. Yiddish is an Ashkenazi Jewish dialect, so the word itself can hardly be deemed offensive.
Any song at a football match has to be sung to the tune of either “Sloop John B” or “Seven Nation Army”, because anything else is just too challenging.
You haven’t been to Tottenham recently Ides? The Jewish community certainly hasn’t left South Tottenham or Stamford Hill.
It was quite emotional, as stated previously, hearing the song in full before kick off. Wish I’d seen this guy though. Would have joined in! Keith would be proud!
Front row of The Chapel, he’s there every week doing that before kick off. I think he went to a rave on an abandoned airfield in 1989, and never really left.
There was a song back in the day Celery, celery, If she don't come I'll tickle her bum With a stick of celery So Valery, Valery If.......... Hmmmm..
Great interview with Maya. Lots of man-love for this guy: https://southamptonfc.com/news/2019-03-10/video-maya-yoshida-southampton-tottenham-premier-league
The biggest thing that pisses me off about their goal yesterday was in the stands ... The amount of "saints" fans, some of them with shirts on, videoing and taking pictures of Kane celebrating really pissed me off. Everything wrong with modern football there.
Is it a regular thing now that the stewards at family section turnstiles let in people wearing the away team shirts as long as they 'zip it up'
