It was down to the wind direction and actually played in to our hands, as we had the benefit of it in the second half, the wind was causing problems all through the game but it wasn't easy to notice the effect it had on the game, from the stands.
Listened to the game on the World Service and the picture drawn up by the commentator was that Spurs were vastly superior in the first half. Smart substitutions at half time to sacrifice the rather static Austin and Romeu for the more mobile Sims and Long thus enabling SFC to pressure the Tottenham back four.
Not as convinced as some about the foul on Sims being deliberate. Possibly dangerous, but even that looked worse because Sims was short and ducked towards the ball (and therefore foot). And wouldn't every player try and bring that ball down in that position. Would probably have been given as a foul elsewhere on the pitch...yes, I know, I know...but refs are influenced by where on the pitch the 'foul' occurs. They want to feel more certain that the foul is real if it is in the penalty area or close to it.....less so if it is in the middle of the pitch. They may not admit it but they are kidding themselves. Doesn't mean Friend had a good game....because he clearly didn't...but it doesn't mean he is always wrong. Shame Redmond didn't score....because that would have been sweet. .
Can the vermin who sang this utter vile stuff be shipped off to another country? We don´t need these guys contaminating our stadiums, cities, county or country.
Something something something, he can shoot n he can pass, and when he's bombing down the wing, leaves the fullback on his arse
Someone tried to give the Amy Winehouse one a go at Old Trafford. It doesn't really work but then that's never stopped us in the past.
Sorry, can’t agree Fran. Vertonghen’s foot ended up level with his own head, never mind the much shorter Sims. It was reckless and dangerous play when he knew another player was close to him. Nailed-on penalty and a yellow.
Absolutely. I was pleased to read that a guy who racially abused a security person at our local hospital has just been in court. The guy was upset as he thought the security person was stopping him from seeing his daughter, and the judge therefore spared him a custodial sentence. These scumbags need serious punishment, but doubt they'll get it.
Oh yes, when working at home one day a couple of weeks back, I was up and down like a YoYo..... chasing outside every time a hen came down from the boxes.
They probably thought they were being clever and funny when in fact they were neither. A visit to Auschwitz would bring them to their senses. Saying nothing and not challenging these morons lets them think they can get away with it so well done to the journalist for reporting the matter and confronting them. Their seat numbers will be known so they should be easy to trace and prosecute and the person making the threat of violence should likewise be pursued and punished. Once identified the club should ban them for life.
