By a strict following of the rules, Walkers-Peters was yellow but Sissoka should have gotten red. If you are going to allow refs some leeway in interpretation, Walkers-Peters deliberately tripped Armstrong when he knew he was beaten and Armstrong was in behind the defense and there was a clear passing lane. And he did it right outside the box. He knew the odds were high he was about to give up a goal, and he traded that in for a low probability free kick which fortunately for us was not all that low probability because we have JWP. Sissoka just lost his cool for a second, because Redmond baited him. Technically, he head butted the player, which is a red but that situation never really got out of control. Handbags, basically. Do it way or the other. The result should have been a red card on Tottenham for one of those two incidents. But we got nothing, because Kevin Friend.
You're right, of course, but I have a huge affection for Sims because of the run that set up Long for THAT goal at Anfield a couple of years back. Delighted to see him back. Now I'd better start the car before the SWEP team think I need a hostel bed for the night. Heart rate now normal. Have a great evening, all!
And it is the more sweeter because we have turned over Spuds, it would be hilarious if they missed out on the CL because of this result...
I'm going to admit to being completely surprised by that result, especially after the first half. Absolutely brilliant and essential comeback given other results. Glad to see Sims making an impact. And what in earth has happened to JWP? He needs a drug test.
Exactly the same that happened to Matty under Alan Ball, he finally has a Manager that believes in him.
Not seen or heard anything from the game, apart that we looked under the cosh. Well done James, take a bow, I did not think you could step up, but it seems in the last two weeks ( and in all honesty the last thrre months you have found your shooting boots). Back in the day, we used to joke a free kick was a goal with Letiss, maybe we are revisiting that time. Also special mention to Kane, 200 goals in sensational Please for Valery, some old fella on here thought he was a plsyer, - maybe. Particular thanks to Ralph. Thosr who have not bought into him ( Ian) , please give our full support, he is the real deal That's me, too much beer and now need to cook tea
Saints have tired in the second half - while employing Ralph's press - then looked very ragged; maybe it was a tactic was to really start the pressing in the second half when they tired!!
Our poor first half was due to Spurs being a very, very good side. The complete turnaround in the second half was due to the manager’s courage, vision, and all round ****ing brilliance
Was starting to struggle a bit not long before the first goal but was much better than I thought he'd be and more involved in actually. Did struggle a bit with the noise in the build up to the goals and obviously after them, never once asked to leave and genuinely watched a lot of it rather than ****ing around with the program etc. He's gonna be a singer like his old man too
The proverbial game of two halves this afternoon. We could not live with Spurs in the first half and I was sceptical that we would be quite so dominated in the second half. I think we were spectators for the first 45 minutes but the second half was a marked improvement and I thought saw us trying to emulate Spur's style of football. JWP is now neck and neck with Redmond for my player of the season. The introduction of Sims was significant and I am starting to think that Ralph needs to get these youngsters a bit of a run because they certainly have an appetite. The only disappointment was the Cardiff result. One point I would like to make was the fact that early in Ralph's appointment there was an interest debate about squad rotation and the fact that the better players should not be played in certain, targeted matches. Today marked the third match in a row with the same starting eleven and it is apparent that Ralph is now deciding upon a settled squad. I am wondering if anyone still thinks the kind for extreme rotation he experimented with is the correct solution.? It is pretty clear that Ralph seemed to be running his eyes over the squad and I now think that his selections are more considered with a clear understanding of who he wants to pick. Just wondered if the consensus had changed.
