After that late Reading goal, where I think we can all say has confirmed our relegation to league 1 ( it's starting to sink in ) we travel to WBA - who have just been humped by Leeds... We travel with confidence no doubt rock bottom, without a win in 8 under Lambert, and of course, no away wins under Lambert either ( DLLLLLLLLD ) throw in injury problems, and well yes. Routine home win for me, 3-0 defeat coming up. I cannot make a case for us getting anything, we're absolutely pants and WBA will be keen to bounce back to winning ways.
Lambert says we need to keep fighting and so I think we’ll get walloped. I would have liked him to start experimenting and letting players express themselves with freedom - then we might see a different side to the team. West Brom will be looking for their own reaction so 4-0.
Quite agree with you Hampy, they'll pull our pants down. Oh he's bloody experimented alright, 21 games of it. Not impressed by Lambert one jot to date.
Agree with you both, and agreed with your scoreline prediction Westy - a heavy 3-0 defeat. I wonder if we'll be mathematically relegated this month? What a sorry state of affairs.
2-1 loss We'll score a late consolation after they've coasted in 2nd gear for the second half being completely untroubled.
2-0 loss. While it's pretty obvious to us all that we will get relegated, until it is mathematically confirmed I would expect nothing less from our manager than to keep putting out the best team available, loanees included. Once it is certain though I agree that the loanees should play no further part and the emphasis should switch to League One preparations.
WBA finally get their (very) long awaited revenge....7-0 (One of my all time fav games, was the town thrashing of the baggies in the mid/late 70s)
Well we're not mathematically down ( although I think we all feel down and it's 99.999999999999999% likely we are) however I agree with San Diego, keep going and see if by some chance a miracle could happen.
We are going to need 20-25 points and there are only 33 to play for. We have got 12 points out of something like 69 so we need to improve our form by a multiple of 4 immediately in order to do it and we have West Brom up next. We could play the remainder of the season 100 times and no times out of 100 would we survive. The Reading defeat was fatal.
We feel your pain....or at least we did when Gunn took over from Roeder. Parallels between NCFC back then and you guys now - and look what's happened to us since! Peckers up, chaps https://www.theguardian.com/footbal...rwich-city-championship-relegation-league-one
The one main difference you had then, and well now vs us - a big one is attendances. I remember reading that you guys hired a new marketing manager in the early 2000s- who cleverly targetted families for season tickets. Back then, you got good gates still but nothing like now - full house give or take every week in the prem ( clearly ) championship and heck - even league 1 your fans bought into the club. You ALWAYS get over 20,000 season ticket holders per season - and given FFP etc, it really helps the coffers no ends at Carrow Road. In start contrast, we're waxing lyrical these days of anything north of 20,000 from a promotional cheap game. Sure, we just managed to get 23,000 ish v Reading, however at £12 a pop and propped up by Reading bringing 1500 fans to Portman Road. Our season ticket take up is now just over 10,000 - be very interesting what we do with prices next season. I actually think Lambert has really tapped into many of our fan base in many a way, and many people are very excited with the change and where things are heading right now. I think we'll certainly get more season tickets sold next season, however they are bound to be that bit cheaper .... so turnover won't necessarily be up any. In league 1, filling the ground is certainly more important than it will be in the championship - given the harsher rules clubs have to comply with ( I salute these actually ) of a %%% ( 75% year 1 ) and 60% there after of turnover spend can be spent. With our media budget about to nosedive from £8 mill down to £1.5mill, the onus really is on the club in packing out Portman Road, and encouraging people to come back. Interesting, interesting times right now.
Unfortunately for 10 years ME and every manager has neglected the fans the most important part of the club. The dire football hasn't helped, I could count on one hand the number of entertaining games we've had in that time. We've literally lost a generation on supporters because of it. The irony that it's taken an ex Norwich Manager with a dire record so far here to do it is pretty impressive. And let's face it, it shouldn't really be the manager job to understand this. That's what you get with a camera shy figurehead.
