Worrying Bristol City team news emerges ahead of Leeds United clash. Bristol City could be without their two main goalkeepers for Saturday’s game against Leeds United at Ashton Gate. Boss Lee Johnson confirmed that number one Frank Fielding, who has missed much of the season through injury, will be absent for the remainder of the campaign after fracturing his hand last month. Therefore, the Robins would be expected to turn to the experience Niki Mäenpää who has played 25 games already in the league this season. However, Johnson told the Bristol Post that a calf injury that forced him off against Preston on Saturday will be assessed ahead of the game against Marcelo Bielsa’s high-flyers: “We’re giving him time, to assess, to see how he is. Naturally he’ll have a scan in the next 24 hours but you want to give the injury time to settle down. “We’re not sure if it was tightness or a tear. He’s moving very well in terms of walking around, without crutches or a boot or anything like that, so we’re hopeful.” If he can’t make it either then 22-year-old Max O’Leary will start. Victory for Leeds could see them end the weekend back at the top of the Championship. The Verdict This is good news for Leeds as even though O’Leary is a talented young keeper, he doesn’t have the experience that Mäenpää has in what is a massive game. Johnson is going to give the 34-year-old every chance to make it though so and you can understand why. Either way, it will be a very tough game for Leeds but they will take any little advantage they may get. https://footballleagueworld.co.uk/w...eam-news-emerges-ahead-of-leeds-united-clash/
Is this a scam? is LJ up to his pre match tricks, what a blow if it's true, could be a good chance for Max.
Oops!! , I hope this isn’t true, or it could end any chance we had If both of our 1st choice keepers are out for any length of time. It’s a lot to ask, despite Max doing well earlier in the year, for him to be expected to cover at the sharp end of the season with potentially so much at stake.
I like Max and think he’s a good keeper, personally I’d prefer either of our more experienced keepers for the pressurised run In though.
Really showing the value of having 3 decent keepers this season aren't we! Madness our luck with injuries in that department. We could be in for a major reshuffle soon, with Niki getting on and Frankie potentially off. I think bumping Max up to number 2, bringing in Wollacott to number 3 and a new number 1 coming in could make sense.
I'm not disputing that'd we prefer Maenpaa or Fielding, just that Max shouldn't be considered such a drop in quality to be thought of as a glaring weakness.
I also read that we have gone in for a keeper from Rangers (Glasgow) on a free. https://www.otib.co.uk/index.php?/topic/200064-marinovic-signed-merged/
The lowdown on Stefan Marinovic - the goalkeeper linked to Bristol City after trials at Rangers, Wolverhampton Wanderers and Everton He has had an interesting career to date https://www.bristolpost.co.uk/sport...wn-stefan-marinovic-goalkeeper-linked-2615010

Very hard to judge, but seems like a good emergency signing. Who's going to start against Leeds I wonder...
Didn’t suggest he’s a drop in quality , but a lot of responsibility for a youngster, actually it could affect his development too, if he makes a mistake that costs us a top 6 finish for instance. It seems we’ve bought in an emergency loanee , I’ve no idea what he’s like though.
That’s a very good question, Max has done very well , not really put a foot wrong , the new guy has lots of experience of pressure games, but hasn’t had long to get to know our defence, I reckon the new guy will get the gloves, it will be harsh on Max though as like I said has done really well when given a chance. If it wasn’t such a tough game I would go the other way and start Max, I just feel the new guys experience of pressure situations gives him the edge.
Deals have also run out for goalkeeper Brian Rowe, defender Sean Franklin, midfielder Cristian Techera and striker Kei Kamara, who led the ‘Caps in scoring with 14 goals and six assists last season. SEEMS OUR NEW KEEPER was part of a massive clear out at the Whitecaps!! makes you wonder why they have just ditched a double figure number of players who seemingly did quite well???? dump your top scorer and your main keeper …...ummmmmmmmmmmmm … new striker anyone?
