Well at least we qualify for the last 8 with a win which has to be better than qualifying after a defeat as looks like might be what happens at PSG tonight. Better to have the winning momentum going forward.

    Daft of the defender.
The art of defending is going to be so much harder.
We will see many more penalties. It will like rugby. Maybe Goals should be given points.3 for a goal from open play;2 if from a set piece and 1 from a penalty.

Seeing how influential VAR has been this evening; how were we not awarded a penalty for the push on Son yesterday?
(Yes , I know we don't play in red)

Spurs put on a professional performance when it really matters, and CK returns to join us.
    What a bloody week!
    Welcome back, @C. Kane . You’ve been missed. <hug>

Sonny didn't appeal enough to make the ref look at VAR. Each team should be allowed 2 referrals. Win they still have two, if the decision stands it is reduced to one.

I think this might be a good move. It would clarify the use of VAR - and maybe reduce those gangs of bullying players from certain “top” clubs surrounding the ref at every opportunity. Unedifying and (for me) unacceptable practice atm. A referral system - a bit like cricket, eh? Only the captain allowed to request the referral, too! Worth thinking about.

I would suggest that if anyone in the team requests a VAR the ref should do it if a team has any requests left. Players would quickly learn that wasting reviews was a very bad move.

    And
And if they do surround the ref demanding a review then the request is automatically refused :emoticon-0148-yes:

The trouble with VAR at the end of the day it still comes down to a ref to make the decision and as proved last night they still get decisions wrong.I'm pretty sure if that was spurs last night we would never have been given that penalty.Pedro mendes goal at old Trafford years ago everyone in the ground could see that was 2 feet over the line except the ref ffs how can that be right?

Yes, but goal line technology is now accepted and is very successful. Mark Clusterfek's clusterfek with the Pedro Mendes incident made it inevitable that goal line technology would be introduced.
VAR can be similar, but it will be a learning process. A clear understanding of the laws of the game, of which some may need tweaking and most of all, consistency is what is required.
