I don't think they are - but then (as you hinted) they don't always publicise the Under 23s like they used to in the pre-Allam era. Admittedly next Monday's U23s match v Cardiff (11th March) did get a mention at the KCOM on Saturday but that is unusual these days. They don't always even mention U23s or U18s results and fixtures in the match day programme. There was absolutely no mention yet again in the programme on Saturday. They also make it difficult (or impossible) for people to attend a 'one off' U23 match by not allowing anyone to pay on the day/night. Only existing members and match card holders are admitted. I think the idea is to discourage fans from attending U23s fixtures in the same way as their 'no concessions' scheme has achieved such success in discouraging so many fans from attending the first team fixtures.
I don't recall City publicizing games at all pre Allam. What when we were in ideal standard??? Just mams n dads on the line as I recall
I remember watching the Reserves at Boothferry Park and then at North Ferriby. Taking the U23s away from Ferriby removed another of their income streams. It became quite clear after the first few games at Inglemire Lane that they were not going to continue to take cash as it would mean they would have to provide a table and employ someone to take the money. Making it free to all would be a better alternative than having to be a member. I can't see thousands descending on a regular basis so it shouldn't be a Health & Safety issue. However, common sense and the Allams don't go hand in hand. It's a shame as I'm sure more people would take their children on the warmer nights as it's a nice atmosphere to watch football in.
Our academy have their own website and Twitter feed, it's not really difficult to find out when they're playing.
It is if your not on twitter or don't have access to a computer. Is it beyond the club to let fans know at the Birmingham game ? On the screens on the concourse ? On the big screen ? In the local rag ? On the local radio sports news ? On the clubs official website ? It's not rocket science. It's someone's job.
They obviously don't care about people going, unless you're a member, you can't go anyway. Though Large Elephant did say above that they announced the next game at the KCOM on Saturday.
Not exactly difficult no - but it could and should be much easier. You've already seen that people didn't know in advance. Most other clubs put their U23 and U18s fixtures and results in their match day programme and on their main website.
I've even put the link directly to the fixtures... https://hullcityacademy.com/teams/dev-squad#fixtures-and-results
No, the U23s (previously the reserves) used to play at Boothferry Park and until recently at North Ferriby. The matches and up-coming fixtures used to be covered quite well in the match day programme and at least get a mention on Radio Humberside. Hull Daily Mail used to cover the matches - not sure if they still do. I think it was just the juniors / U18s and younger that played at Ideal Standard's old ground.
Yes, thanks for that. I actually already knew about it - but clearly a number of people didn't and probably many still won't unless they read this thread.
We're obviously rubbish at publicising games and allowing people to go to games, but we're rubbish at pretty much everything nowadays. We do have a thread on here for the U23's - https://www.not606.com/threads/under-23s-2018-19-season.364357/
Thanks also for this. I didn't even know about this match even though, as I said, I knew about the Academy web site (and the U23 thread) and had looked up the U23s / development and U18s fixtures only yesterday. This fixture still isn't on there under either fixture list! I realise it is now on there as a news item but it hardly gave us any advance notice!
Is this a bit like Burns was banned as he wouldn’t keep his mouth shut then it was bullshit. We’ve never been great at any sort of marketing pre Allam.
