SheBelieves Cup https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/47356765 England women earn a 2-2 draw against USA. Couldn't hold onto a win at 2-1, but a good result as the USA team is the top team in the World. So England go on to play Japan after a win v Brazil and this draw. And Japan beat Brazil 3-1....so lead on GD.
I don't know if this has already been posted. But the rules on handball are changing from next season. https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/47429316
LA Galaxy have unveiled a statue of David Beckham at their stadium. Trust Americans to get it wrong and have a football statue that actually looks like the person.
I think his departure has been on the cards for a while - there were mumblings of discontent after Celtic`s performances in Europe this year. Stange how he was allowed to speak to Leicester, then 24 hrs later he is installed as manager - no haggling over the settlement, no fight from the board to keep him. Then straight way, Lennon installed - after just leaving Hibs by mutual consent.
The size of the settlement likely helped; Celtic has been very careful with their money in recent years, particularly when their CL campaigns go poorly, so £6m for a manager who hasn't been exceptionally successful in Europe makes for a pretty attractive option.
https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/47442940 Bolton training ground closed because there is no food, drink or supplies. Makes me feel sad, because we were in a similar position a few years back. Remember a member of staff saying that Saints were in such a bad position that they had to scour the away team's changing room for unused medical supplies. Hope someone rescues Bolton.
Just seen that among other things that new rules next season include no rebounds from penalties and no attacking players in the wall on free kicks. Wish people would stop messing with the game ffs.
I don't, the free kick should be an advantage for an attacking team and this dilutes that albeit in a small way. The penalty one is just ridiculous imo, and completely unnecessary.
I do agree about pens. Bloody Liverpool wouldn't have had the miracle of Istanbul. Which, by the way, I'm only reminded of now and again .. and again .. and ****ing again! (The joy of living in the wonderful North West can be tainted occasionally)
No rebounds makes no sense, it’s like a rule 6 year olds make up down the park with their mates. If there’s a rebound the ball is in play. Then what happens? The ref will stop play because it hit off the post and back into play? I don’t get it.
There have been some good changes over the years, my favourite being the passing it back to keeper rule. It served a purpose, cutting out timewasting and made the game .ore exciting. No rebounds from penalties though. WTF
