I really think this could be a goer why because Fulham will have a bucket load of money to have a real tilt at promotion again next season. LJ quietly has been restricted with funds to take City onwards to the next level. He knows a quality striker would have given him the tools to have a real tilt at promotion this year. Unless SL can guarantee LJ funds for next season I think he could be very tempted. He also has a lot of affection for Fulham. He would double his salary.Interesting times at City.
I posted on OTIB I don’t think he will go. He has unfinished business here - he wants to be the person to take us up - and he has a ghost to bury with all the ‘haters’. It’s also true that he has a chairman who backs him strongly - a rare thing in football. Why go to a club in decline? He can’t buy any players - even if the funds are there - until the transfer season opens again in the summer - and the league will be concluded by then. No - he will stay and take us up through the playoffs.
Norwich fan on OTIB said if they lost their manager LJ would be the one they would want to be in for. Funny really other clubs fans rate him yet some here hate him. Oh well RR will be happy, he will say he wants Pardew or Pearson
Lee is just the same as all managers in that they are hired to be fired. Perhaps the financial restrictions imposed by Lansdown may be a bigger factor than we realize and the lure of a return to the London area might just be the ticket for the man. I have always had the impression that a lot goes on behind the doors of Ashton Gate that the public will never know, and perhaps rightly so, but I have a distinct feeling that the money is a deterrent to bringing in the kinds of players we need and particularly right now when our goal scoring feats are poor at best. Sometimes having the security of being a yes man has it's limitations and maybe he will move on, and we will probably go back to the drawing board yet again to formulate our next 5 year plan.
We have an absolute gem of a coach in LJ, some fans mysterically cant see it...if he does go (I dont think he will), it will be a bitter blow to our club
totally agree, in the early stages City seemed to be following the "Barnsley" style which worked for them as Lee left and the assistant moved up ..Heckingbottom …. but he got greedy! moved and got sacked at Leeds after 4 months after 4-4-8 and has just 4 ………. "3 easy + Celtic " games ago W3 L1...…joined Hibs …….. Barnsley of course are 2nd Div 1 Lee has 3 years to run on his contract ..expect SL to extend that with enhanced wages /bonus. Fulham will be dropping back and the problem they and others [relegated] will experience is fair play... Last season WBA Stoke and Swansea … 2016/ 17 Hull Midds Sunderland 2015/16 Newcastle Norwich and Villa that's 9 teams with 9 promotion places.. 6 plus 3 this season …. Sunderland massive crowds ...Div 1 ...Hull Midds Villa NORWICH WBA Stoke and Swansea 7 teams vying for 3 spots Newcastle only one to made it back ………… so no guarantee's next season could be 9 of those relegated fighting for 3 places plus " CITY, DERBY, FLOREST and SUNDERLAND! MORE THAN HALF the division I reckon he will be our manager next season ……..
Wouldn’t surprise me either way, SL stuck by him when most chairmen wouldn’t, he’s reasonably well backed in terms of buying players, although obviously he has limitations that he might not have if he managed a more fashionable club. I’m sure he’ll move to bigger and better things at some point, the question is when. It will need to be a ‘project’ I think , so he’ll need a similar chairman to SL who will back him. If he hasn’t achieved promotion in a couple of years here I’m sure he’ll look to achieve success elsewhere, if on the other hand he gets us up I think he’ll stay to try to keep us up and make us a mid table prem team.
You could understand it if he was tempted, on the back of the often unfair criticism he's received & utterly moronic death threats. That said, I think he genuinely loves the club & is happy and secure where he is, so he he's unlikely to be swayed by anything less than a really exciting opportunity in the Premiership (said with all due respect to Fulham, but they're almost certain to be relegated). If/when Roy Hodgson retires, it's not completely out of the question that Crystal Palace might enquire, though he's probably not a 'sexy' enough name for the fans of any top flight side.
He wouldn't get the same backing at Fulham like he has here, he'd be sacked in an instant with poor results
Him and his family are Fulham fans so he could be swayed between a club he’s got affection for against a team he supported as a boy.
Don't think LJ would move he's doing a great job here, like us his one dream is the Premier league hope he achieves his aim with us.
He is going to want financial backing to take the club to the next level. This will be a deciding factor.
I know we lost some players but he spent £20m odd last season. I don't think lack of financial backing has ever been an issue here. It's just that we won't spend stupid money on a player without a high chance of resale value (i.e. Assombalonga).
Wages would be a Problem in my opinion, even if we could afford the fee. As others have said we buy players that are going to improve and hopefully increase in value.
