Really interesting line, and should promotion happen it'll be really interesting to see what actions are taken towards that goal. We're probably as guilty as many clubs of using the Premier League riches for immediate improvements to the first team, and not prioritising long term success. Somewhat similar to Cardiff this season, in some ways we need to use the money from going up to built a side capable of winning the championship in 2020-21. That would mean signing an understudy RB for when Max is inevitably snapped up by a bigger club, those kind of moves. More players into the academy pipeline, expand Carrow Road? Build the scouting network, sports science, etc. It might leave us heavily reliant on our belief that Farke's approach is the right one, and bringing in players to help refine and improve that formula - even if that doesn't bring the outright individual quality to the side that's needed for survival.
That's something I've been hoping would happen and now it could be. There will be a few new players, but not hugely expensive ones. Our best chance is a good team spirit and competition for places. We have that now and the football we're playing is capable of survival in the PL. The players want it more than anything and I'm sure they'd be willing to fight to keep it. No expensive mercenaries please!
So, we’re going to be seeing quite a bit of the ‘Sky Truck’ in the CR car park over the next couple of months- (7.45pm kick-off unless otherwise stated) March 8th - Norwich City V Swansea City March 12th - Reading v Leeds United (8pm) * March 13th - Norwich City V Hull City March 13th - Nottingham Forest v Aston Villa* April 6th - Norwich City v QPR (12.30) April 9th - Bristol City v West Bromwich Albion April 9th - Preston North End v Leeds United* April 10th - Birmingham City v Sheffield United April 10th Norwich City v Reading* * on Sky Sports Action The extra revenue could be used to bring in another 3rd tier German!!!
Great article from Melissa Rudd - https://www.edp24.co.uk/sport/norwich-city/melissa-rudd-on-atmosphere-1-5910117m
#ludicrous They should decline it and give it to help those in real need. Homeless/single parents/disabled etc. I'm sure most of the WBA players earn more in a week than a lot of their fans earn in a year!!!!
How much did Leeds pay for Bielsa for a start, not to mention his translator! Seriously, if promotion does happen, the next steps will be crucial. Our success back in the 90s was based on building a tight knit team of committed players who would fight for each other. Some of these were young players from the youth team (eg. Sutton and Goss) while others were imported from other youth teams (like McVeigh and Mulryne from Spurs). It's about building a team rather than trying to bolt one together with a few very pricey players who upset the cohesion. SW and DF grasp this and are working hard to make it happen. To survive against established PL teams we need players who know each others game and can pass instinctively as was shown in the third goal yesterday. We need to hold on to our players and recruit for the long term transition and growth, investing in players like Pukki and Buendia rather than spending big to chase an elusive quick fix.
"That pass from Bendy to Teemu for our 3rd goal was a joy to behold. Pure magic!" Magic indeed. Pukki took it in his stride and slotted it in from a difficult angle.
And even more crap from their GK!!! https://www.hartlepoolmail.co.uk/sp...ng-to-norwich-city-and-leeds-united-1-9626676
Classic stuff from Randolph: “A few results went our way and we could have closed the gap but we weren’t able to do it. We had a few good chances, a few little final balls that didn’t quite come off, crosses and set pieces that didn’t work. It just wouldn’t fall for us today. We couldn’t put the ball in the net.” Very true, Darren, but you can't close the gap when you don't score and the others score 7 between them.
So are we at the point where the collapse required to miss out on the play-offs is too large to be at all realistic? Gap to Derby is now 18 points, so even if we score points at the same rate as Ipswich (0.6 ppg), they need 24-25 points from a possible 36. Just wish we could shake someone off for the autos! Wednesday have only lost to Chelsea since 12th Jan, so hopefully they can give the Blades a tough game on Monday.
From today’s ‘Super Computer predictions - 1st Norwich - 94, 2ndBlades - 87, 3rd Leeds - 86. On that basis, we’d be guaranteed promotion IF we beat the Owls on 19th April. Could be an EXCELLENT Friday, never mind 'Good Friday'.
Yep I’d quite like to see Blades drop points there and then maybe lose to Leeds. Not too fussed about the title, although obviously it would be nice.
