Can you imagine what it would be like on here if we had sold him (as many were suggesting we should) and he had started performing like this for someone else.....!
I’m not surprised JWP is performing well. He was performing well whenever he was given a chance under MP2, but then just kept getting mysteriously dropped. Hughes never liked him for some reason and he barely got a sniff and when he did he was clearly frustrated. When Ralph came in several of us were convinced that JWP would thrive under his management and I’m delighted to be right for once in my life.
Certainly something you could see coming. Yesterday finished off whatever slim survival hopes they had. Ranieri wouldn't have been an option for them in the Championship (from the club's point of view, he has no experience of that league; from his point of view, I'm not sure he'd have wanted to manage in that league). So putting those two things together, there was absolutely no reason for him to carry on after yesterday. Parker is given a no-lose situation. If he does badly, no-one cares and they appoint a new manager in the summer. If he does well, he gets to do a Darren Moore and manage them permanently next season in the Championship.
I'm going to stick my neck out and suggest that we've had an extended blip, thrown away some points cheaply and will resume what in the bigger picture is the beginnings of a transformation under Ralph. I think we'll out perform Cardiff for the rest of the season and won't need to worry about their results.
