Well Sarri has done what I thought he couldn't, he got the team well up for City, then got kicked in the teeth by Kepa, but got them up again to beat Spurs. In both the games, it seemed to me that we played less "Sarri ball" instead the players played with more freedom, with the midfield far more attack minded and Kante especially tearing forward like a mini tornado. This approach is much closer to the one most people have been calling for, and we look a better and tougher team for it. Was pleased to see Kepa dropped, but that should be the end of it now, and Sarri looks to be onside with the team for doing so. Surprised at his selections for Spurs, but several players stepped up, notably Pedro who really enjoyed himself, Dave was sharper and Alonso also put in. Jorghino looked to be involved more, would love to see Kante start beside him with RLC in front of them. Anyway, well earned 3 points after one of the worst 2 week periods in years.
Do you sense something has changed in the players and in Sarri ?? I only saw the game on TV of course, but even so I felt there was a better spirit and a that Sarri has somehow freed up players from the slow, dull game they were being asked to play a couple of weeks ago. Even the fans sounded happier than they had a right to be, and Kepa might have done everyone a favour by default.
An excellent result considering the disappointment of the cup final coupled with Kepas blatant insubordination; too soon to say if we’re in for a “Utd revival” but there’s no better pickup tonic than beating the Spuds at the Bridge after all until last season it was traditional; odds are against us getting into the top four but no harm in trying hopefully we can build on these last two performances.
We're more than capable of a top four place, going to be interesting.I reckon Spurs could bottle it Fancy Goons to beat them over weekend.
Tbh i didnt get round to watching our match properly as i was at dinner with some friends. The small parts i caught the defence were playing very well and to restrict spurs to that few chances is something to be proud of. It was good to watch pedro making runs past the final defender as i i ke banging on not many of our players do it. Also like the look of higuain who was unlucky not to score. No pissing about just hit the ****er when he has the chance
Great result. Still worries me we are not creating more chances and had we gone behind in either of the last 2 games I wonder how we would have coped. We seem a bit fragile in these circumstances. However I think Sarri has let them off the leash a little and it's certainly resulted in more positive performances. Kante has looked immense. Sunday will of course be a different kind of test against a team who will just sit back and invite us on.
Oh Pedro Rodriguez Oh Pedro Rodriguez ......great game with less farting around playing ‘Sarri Ball’ and there was more traditional attack minded football. The defence seemed very stable with Caballero in goal. More than made up for losing 1-3 against the Spuds at home last season.
