Striking whilst the iron's hot and whilst I'm still basking in the glow (not as warm as the warm glow thread) of a matchwinning matchday thread from Saturday I thought I'd try my luck again ;-) Tuesday night sees Sean Dyche bring his clarets to SJP, both teams having taken the spoils from our respective weekend games. A second victory in 4 days would see us leap frog Burnley as well as Palarse into 13th spot who play 24 hours later at home to ManYoo. This should be a tougher test than T'Uddersfield, Burnley having won 5 out of their last 8 games and drawing the other 3. Kick off is an 8pm affair live on the telly box courtesy of Bee Tee Sport The man in the middle is none other than Craig son making his 3rd outing for us this season. The 0-0 draw with Cardiff (cheers Kenedy) and the 1-0 home win over Watford his previous encounters for us. According to NUFC.com there are no injuries to contend with from the weekend, Shelvey and Clarke unlikely to feature so I think Rafa may stick with the same starting lineup/formation for the 2nd game in a row. Hopefully Rafa's tactical nouse will show through, i'm gonna go for a hard fought ground out 2-1 win for us, Miggy and Rondon scoring for us. **Edit** Apparently the crossbar is still recovering from Kenedy's rasper on Saturday but is expected to make a full recovery in time for the Burnley game.
I think we will surprise everyone with a 3-1 win. Almiron, Rondon and Kenedy off the bench. I'd hope Rafa would start the same side but he rarely does when games come in quick succession. Too many players will be in his red zone for injuries. The team and tactics will already be set from the warm weather training camp you'd hope. I just think now is not the time for change but to capitalise on the feel good from Saturday.
As Somm says Gowling is injured, that said it would be worthwhile bringing him on for the last 15 minutes. I'd be inclined to play Tudor up front with Rondon to bully the Burnley centre backs and also to get on the end of Jackie Sinclair's crosses. An injured Gowling may not be a goal threat, however he'd hold the ball up well and also run it into the corners to see out the game. I'm going 3-1 ( Rondon, Tudor and a first goal of the season for Pat Howard )
Everyone except Jim? 2-1 win in this one, Almiron and Perez with the goals either side of half time. Ritchie oggy for them at which point he will kick the corner flag out of the Leaze End down to London, hit Kepa in the eye but he'll still refuse to come off.
Burnley are on a real good run of form so its going to be tough but I fancy us to sneak a 1-0 win. Longstaff’s first misplaced pass since his debut ending up as a 30yd screamer into the top corner.
With Newcastle nothing will surprise. Will our performance from Saturday continue or will Burnley pose a big threat as they are on a great run at present.
Begone, Mackem! Burnley are on a mad form atm, but mainly cos they're 2 striker on fire right now, the 3 Ls will shut them right down in this game though! 2-0, Miggy to run the show, Rondon to terrorise their defence, and Longstaff kick the **** out of everyone in midfield!
We know your game mate - trying to get us to safety so we wont be desperate for 3pts come the penultimate game of the season. Well hard luck - I already have my flights booked and it will be the only game I will see live this season so I expect us to go all out for the win.
