Bristol City manager Lee Johnson told BBC Radio Bristol: "I thought the performance was energetic, I thought we worked hard, I thought first half we were very good in the way we pressed and countered. "But there were still two or three individuals that I didn't think were at it, for whatever reason, and you can't afford to have that at levels like this. "Second half we came out and the first five or six minutes we were fine, then for 20 minutes they blew us away and that was partly down to us making poor decisions in possession and partly down to their quality." https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/47261935
Marley Watkinss didn't score well in the ratings, BailyWright and Fielding also marked low in the Evil.... charts.
BaileyWright isn’t a full back, were Pisano and Hunt both not fit?, if not then I don’t understand why he played. The subs weren’t great yesterday either, so before LJ criticises some of the players I think he should take a look in the mirror, not his best day either, that said collectively they’ve been amazing lately and you have to remember Norwich are probably the best team in the league this season, even though there were individual errors yesterday we still gave them a tough game , weren’t outplayed and were ahead twice.
Had he started Nikki played Pisano instead of wright and brought Ellison on instead of Watkins I think the result could have been so different. He needs to play his strongest players in their correct positions. At present their is no place for Wright or Watkins in the team. Really baffles me how he can play a centre back at right back when our right back is different gravy.
Tbh I generally think you are ridiculously knee-jerk in your opinions & constantly contradict yourself, but I did agree with pretty much all these points, with the possible exception of Fielding who still made some strong saves & has performed well enough in Maenpaa's absence to not necessarily be dropped immediately Eliasson in particular should be grumpy - I guess LJ hoped the former club factor would come into play but I think it was unnecessary pressure on a player returning from injury when Eliasson is pretty unlucky not to be starting & has been the major part in wins over Bolton & QPR especially. That said, Norwich were very impressive in attack & we shouldn't complain too much about our own shortcomings when they turned in such a good performance. They may well say they weren't at their best, at least in the first half, but I'd argue that was as much down to us disrupting them as anything - listen to opposite fans & every team we've played and beaten for two months only lost because they themselves played **** rather than us play well! It hurts to say another team was just better, but if you aren't philosophical about these things you'll be pissed off that your team isn't as good as Barcelona or Real Madrid every week! Hopefully there'll be lessons learned from the game that we can use to help us against other strong sides we've yet to play. Hopefully the team will be able to block out any negative crap that might be floating about & focus on the Birmingham game. Keep Che Adams quiet & that'll be half the job done!
Agree about Pisano, Nikki or Frakie, could go either way in my opinion , provided of course they are both fit, you could make a case for either, (except in your eyes) , depends how LJ sees it and how well each is doing in training.
We were the ONLY team in the top 4 divisions with a 100% League win rate for 2019 going into this game. We got beaten - by the league leaders - in their home turf - by 1 goal after giving them a good game. We lost, yes - but the wheels are firmly on and we must not let negativity slip in. Look at our form compared with all other teams. Ours is still top of the form table.
And I’ve seen plenty of times when Maenpaa has played where Fielding would of done better. Maenpaa wasn’t on the bench on Saturday so that tells you he wasn’t fit, so your argument was pointless as he’s injured still. Our best run last season, the one that in your words “gave us the best chance, which won’t be repeated for a long time”, Bailey Wright played RB. Pisano is seen in training and he’s a LJ signing who he likes but has it occurred to you he might also be carrying a knock as he rarely plays 90 minutes lately. Plus in case it escaped your tiny brain, with Bailey Wright on the field allows us to do what we done with the subs was to go 3 5 2. As to the subs, he brought on Taylor (the one that you said should always start) Marly Watkins who I don’t rate either but is more defensive than Elliasson and at that point it was backs to the wall. Plus if you look at Watkins minutes per goal is not that bad. Like I said I don’t rate him but how many times do you see players scoring against former clubs? And another who said should always start Kasey Palmer. You never look at the bigger picture only the one you want to see.
I don't think there is much in it if i'm honest, both have flaws both have strengths.......don't really think Fielding was a fault for both our losses...It would be a knee jerk reaction change after playing two very good sides...
As Onefor says to me there is pluses and minuses in both. But it’s weird out of all that, that’s the one thing you ask. Ones injured so I prefer the one that’s fit.
And didn’t come for the cross on the second goal. As I said I like both, both have different qualities. But you also said Matty Taylor is class, Kasey Palmer is different gravy. But we didn’t look any good until Patterson came on. Who no doubt you’ve rubbished at some time.
