I'm not against that. I wouldn't have a problem with seeing Gallagher's name on the teamsheet.

Although in fairness, none of us really know for sure how good he is. Given a run of games, he could prove himself to be really, really bad. I mean, Long and Austin are bad, but they're still miles better than me. So I never listen to the adage of "he can't be any worse" in relation to a player. Is our most important game of the season, the right game to be testing out how good he is?

It's a tough one. But yeah, on balance, I'm OK with him starting.

He played 90 minutes against Leicester in the League Cup as well as those minutes in the PL. I absolutely agree it’s hard to pile pressure on the lad, but disagree that he hasn’t shown promise.

I was thinking similar. He conceded possession on the half way line and we still had four players between the ball and our goal, so yes he conceded possession, but there were still enough players back to do better.
The pass back to Gunn was poor, but how many more times are our players going to try and hit a ball as far upfield as possible, whilst off balance, only to give theball away in a dangerous position, leading to a goal, when common sense says hit it into row z and regroup.

I agree he has shown promise, just worried our expectations might crush it of the goals don’t flow.

Sam Gallagher? I think he scored a goal for us as a kid 6 years ago. Since then he's been completely below average in the Championship, is League 1 standard at his best and he's going to save us in the Premiership? I'd rather have SKD at centre forward!

Long and Austin haven’t shown even league 1 standards this season

Well I had a season ticket in league one, and have watched every game this season, and I don’t think they would get into any league one side based on their performances. Even in league one strikers could run and control a ball.

I must admit I am confused as to why the owners of a Premiership team would run it down to almost certain relegation and thus less income?

They thought they'd done enough. They thought they'd plugged the leak with Ralph.
Letting Gabbi go on loan was a massive blunder. But, not chucking the towel in just yet though.

Agree completely. It is very peculiar! Maybe they have a great masterplan for Premier League domination but it seems a very discrete plan.

I don't get why they loaned out/sold a lot of players in January, and then leave the team so weak because they didn't get anyone in to replace them. Why would they rely on a front line of players who are either injury prone (our better ones Ings/Obafemi), can't run and barely score Austin, and can run but can't score Long, beggars belief.

I think even the most optimistic fan will struggle to find positives at the moment.

Even hasenhuttl is carrying himself with more of a negative demeanour since the club ****ed up yet another’s transfer window!

It will be a minor miracle if we stay up with this squad

Reverting to my pre-Ralph conspiracy theory position, it could be that Gao, having mismanaged his own finances, and the Chinese rules on exporting assets, to the point that he couldn’t pay Kat the £210 million without getting a loan, wants to liquefy his assets to pay the loan off. Appointing Ralph was, compared to buying players, a low-cost option which might keep us up, in which case next season might see us sold off to someone with actual cash. Relegation will see Gao pocket the TV money and parachute payments, followed by anything he can raise from player sales, and swapping us for a full set of Pokemon cards.
