the league is worse than cr*p if you've ever had the misfortune of watching a game on sky. the league is slowly getting worse and worse, culminating in no scottish clubs even qualifiying for the europa league for crying out loud, home to teams like Vorskla Poltava, FC Vaslui and FC Metalist Kharkiv, not to mention birmingham who easily qualified when they're in the championship!!! . how pathetically poor are celtic and rangers nowadays? i think we'd beat them to be honest, he should have stayed here people still notice you tackling and playing the ball simply.... andrew crofts was playing the holding role and was involved in the game for example, ledley, did nothing. 'Joe Ledley: Playing as cover on the left of midfield, he worked hard without too much impact. Downing ran past him much too easily to set up Young's goal. 5' independant
I wasn't insinuating that Crofts, or defensive midfielders in general, all go unnoticed. Just that if you're doing a good job you get noticed (as Crofts did), that's all.
BigKidderz. I'm not Ledleys Biggest fan. He wasn't brilliant against England. Hardly offered anything going forward. But what he did do was 'bust a gut' I thought everytime Downing had the ball he really put in an effort to get Goal Side. I think that was his task. The time he got beat was when we scored. On that - Really pleased with Taylor, who looks like he has cememented his place in our first 11. He has looked very good!
Must agree on Taylor. He will get more confident the more big games he plays in and could well be Wales first choice left back for many years.
Agreed on Taylor, although I didn't see the England game and haven't had a proper chance to sit through the highlights yet. Every time I've seen Taylor in the flesh he's looked better and better, and, the odd lapse in concentration aside, he's starting to look like a Premiership quality attacking left back. Looking like another bargain...
the worse thing ledders could have done was move to that Micky mouse league in scotland, he should have stayed at cardiff to further his playing skills, he was showing signs with cardiff that he could be a great player but he is going backwards as he has no opposition except rangers and it shows, he was useless for wales v england and that was not the ledders i saw with cardiff, He either needs to get a premiership side or go back to cardiff where he played his best football...he is young yet so i hope it goes well for him in the future.....but get out of scotland to do it..
Four or five competitive games a season is not the best preparation for international football, and it showed a bit in Ledley's performance, he worked hard but was just that bit off the pace, if he comes back to a very competitive championship, or a lower PL club, then his game could improve by 30% good for the player and good for Wales. As for the original question Yes
so far, its turned out to be a bad move for ledley. i wont say 'i told you so' because at the time celtic and rangers were regulararly in the champions league, and i thought he'd be playing in europe which he wouldnt get at stoke for example ( guess what happened ). but its clear that he joined a poor team and poor league, which will only get worse it seems
with his talent he needs a better type of football. lets be honest celtic and rangers would be mid table at best in the championship and ledders is better than that, dont know if he went for the money but it was the wrong move. the cardiff fans were saying that at the time and they were right, he has lost a yard or two since he left cardiff, its a shame but i hope one day we will see the real ledders......
You see Swamp this is where you and Ledley will disagree as he still has 3 years left getting paid £25,000 per week, so as far as he is concerned its a fantastic move and no amount of **** football will change that.
footballing wise obviously. you cant argue with the money, if thats one of the reasons he went there then you cant blame him. who would have thought stoke were going to stay up anyway - not to mention the style of football (i thought they'd get relegated and so did many). its easy to be wise in hindsight but we now know he is at a poor club in a poor league, i underestimated how poor it was (though many on here knew). well so far he hasnt won anything of note (the scottish cup which in the real world doesnt count) and he's only playing in europe at the moment because of sion pulling out. you have to say that he's joining a team which is going backwards, not forwards, and being tied to celtic for 3 more years is not a good thing IMO (apart from the money of course). http://www.guardian.co.uk/football/2010/jul/12/celtic-sign-joe-ledley-cardiff
Taylor is the first natural leftback we've had for wales in a while (not counting Bale). I do think we need another winger and possibly 2 new centre backs for wales.
ledders is a cracking player that has plenty of time to come and be the player we all know he is, wrong club, wrong league for him thats all....
He's simply not good enough, cost us the first goal, and is becoming a regular tourist in matches!................ please log in to view this image
