Oooh, and excuse for an old joke. On my birthday, my mate got me an elephant for my room. I said "wow, thanks" He said "Don't mention it".
He officially applied to register (a non existent) team with the FA for the Hull Tigers name. Is that just coincidence that he is assaulted by stewards or does it confirm that they had a hotline to the Allams? PS Anyone know what happened to his (tenfoots) application? The last I heard, he had got it in before the Allams, but they wouldnt consider it until their request was heard. Presumably when they turned down Allams request, they would have considered Ten foot's?
No Allam conspiracy around the stewards laying one upon Tenfoot, or particularly singling him out. My hazy memory is there was lot of talk of how best to push the proposed name change to the wider public, CTID in its gestation or early days. Tenfoot and his mate did their own thing, quite admirably.
It was a decent idea, it just didn't work. Like my attempt to register Hull Tigers for clothing, to prevent it being used on kits, it was ultimately a waste of time.
About 1980 time some clubs started making pullovers with club badges. Dave Dewberry decided to have some made and sell them at cost to acquaintances. The club, when they found out, naturally complained. It transpired they had never copyrighted the tiger badge. They soon started making their own which looked identical. Still have mine somewhere. When my kids were younger they wouldn't believe, even though my wife supported me, that their dad had ever fitted into it.
That's not to say that someone, having perused the City message boards, had alerted the stewards to possible, probable, direct action in some form. The game was televised, wasn't it?
Yes, not that I remember Tenfoot specifically, but there were a few advocating some visible protest inside the ground. After the event, he was not what you would call reticent on the matter.
Yet Tenfoot was always the first to fulminate regarding any perceived racism on the part of others, and copped it because of being pulled up on charges of racism himself.
