This is an FA Cup fixture and will therefore be magic although I've got a feeling we're going to get twatted. Venue: Stamford Bridge, Fulham Time: 7.30pm kick off which means it directly clashes with the first episode of Coronation Street. Viewing: It's on BBC1 so they must have binned off Eastenders for the night which will be a relief to anyone who has ever suffered that depressing cockney ****. Team news: Marcus Rojo is chilling and Matteo Darmian is thinking about buying a new car. Random fact: I once sat in the Directors Box at Stamford Bridge with Lorraine Kelly, Richard Attenborough, Fabio Capello, Roy Hodgson and that guy who used to be in charge at Liverpool, looks a bit like Art Garfunkel. The game finished 0-0 and Ballack should have scored right at the end. please log in to view this image vs please log in to view this image
Man Utd Team 22 Romero 18 Young 12 Smalling 2 Lindelöf 23 Shaw 21 Herrera 31 Matic 6 Pogba 8 Mata 9 Lukaku 10 Rashford Substitutes 1 De Gea 3 Bailly 7 Sánchez 15 Pereira 17 Fred 20 Dalot 39 McTominay That suggests Lukaku centre forward, Rashford left and Mata on the right. I'd have given Sanchez a run in this one on the left and kept Rashford at CF and played Lukaku on the right. Just for that extra bit of pace (although it's marginal!) I could be wrong though. Why not give Pogba a run on the left, he certainly seemed to like it (hiding) out there v PSG?!?!
I thought we’d lose. I didn’t fully appreciate how **** Chelsea are. Look forward to the detailed Chelsea commentary. How many away fans were there at the game? I was clapping from my sofa. Will be down at Woking tomorrow to watch them play Hemel Hempstead.
I think United played reasonably well and got their tactics spot on (which isn't hard considering how predictable we are). I think the commentators hugely over played the Ole revolution stuff though. They are bloody loving that narrative at the moment. We got beat 4-0 by Bournemouth, we are bloody terrible so fair play for taking advantage but did United do much more than putting numbers behind the ball and wait for us to make mistakes? Maybe you guys see it differently. Not sure how Pogba got man of the match. Another example of the narrative being better than reality. Herrera was clearly man of the match.
Chelsea at Stamford Bridge has never been an easy game for us and Ole can only set up to beat what's in front of him. Chelsea were poor, but much of that was down to Ole's tactics in defending high and pressing all over the pitch - it was Chelsea's problem to overcome that game plan and they couldn't. Given our recent reliance on Martial an Lingard's energy and movement - to earn a result like that was yet another indication that Ole has the tactical nous to manage the club - after all, it can't all be down to good luck.
No he did very well. Absolutely agreed. Not criticising Ole at all, I like the guy and perversely almost happy he's doing well. Just when the media get a narrative they spin it to death. For instance the whole Pogba turnaround thing. He had a couple of stand out moments last night but as often the case, was anonymous and wasteful on plenty of occasions too. Herrera was excellent all game but was a Jose favourite so they don't make much of his good performance. Likewise, the commentator was full of praise as Lukaku went off last night who I forgot was even playing.
Pogba was outstanding last night as was Herrera. Jose shat on Herrera in the same way that LVG did. He signed Fred who is a **** version of Herrera. It’s a miracle the lad is still at United. The fans never doubted his quality and love his commitment. Class act.
Don't think it's down to a media 'narrative' around Pogba. Simple fact is when a player scores and gets an assist, in a game with only two goals, they get MOTM more often than not. The media and all the 'expert' pundits rarely look past the headline stats, just check any 'team of the week' and count how many of the players chosen were goalscorers, regardless of their other efforts.
