We are inconsistent and playing on Thursday away.

Despite Stamford Bridge producing your worst results in recent history, you must fancy your chances this time.

If you win the competition is all yours bar City

We've got a decent chance, yes.

Hopefully the Lingard and Martial injuries aren't that bad and they can both play, at least we've no game between last night and Monday.

Right now, City would beat us in a one off game at a neutral ground, be it the semi or the final. We've a fair bit of catching up to do yet.

Last night exposed just how threadbare our squad is, rather than any tactical deficiencies. Up until the loss of martial and Lingard we had nullified PSG - note nullified, rather than competed with them. This current squad might be able to keep pace in the PL, but certainly not in the CL. One of the papers this morning had a good piece highlighting how this is a legacy of mis-management from Woodward's perspective more than anything else. Poor dealings I the transfer market, patch repairs rather than long-term planning has resulted in us having an inexperienced, unbalanced squad. In contrast, look at PSG - Mbappe is a rising star, but they also have Neymar and Cavani - a mix of youth and experience, the same with the likes of Alves, who would have thought he would be a good purchase, but his experience was on display last night.

We seem to have this fixation on bringing youth through the ranks - no problem there, but you need old heads in their too. On nights like last night you need the likes of Rashford to have some experience around him , to take the focus away from him to give him space to play - last night he was invisible.

Hopefully this won't be seen as a black mark on Ole's CV, he can only make use of the squad we have, but equally, I hope the board start to realise that the Woody school of transfers was as much to blame as the players on the pitch.

    City can't win everything.

Maybe a surprise team will knock them out of the Cup and clear the way for Chelsea/United to lift FA Cup.

I still think Woodward is the easy target. He's made plenty of funds available for players of all ages and positions, not many of the players we've bought in the past five years or so can really be called 'patch repairs', except maybe Felliani and Darmian.

Can we really blame him for sanctioning buying the likes of Di Maria, Depay, Schneiderlin, Micky, Bailly, Lukaku, Sanchez and Fred? It's not like anyone stood up and said those players wouldn't perform before we bought them. Is there any better player we would genuinely have been in for other than those and Woodward's supposed 'school of transfers' stopped us?

Chronic mismanagement by LVG and Mourinho is far more to blame - both bought in quality players who were playing well, and both misused them and the rest of the squad to the point of failure. We'd probably have salvaged at least a goal last night if Sanchez and Lukaku weren't so overweight and beaten down from a year of Mourinho.

    Interesting angle, Swarbs.

Where have you been? You have easily the best knowledge of United, bar Matth obviously!!

Who do want to coach United next season?

    Sorry Chief forgot about you!

Do you want Ole next season or a stellar coach?

Never changed my stance on this and one or two negative result won't either.

We see how it goes until the end of the season and then make a call based on where we are. Ole will need to have a long term plan, with identified signings, and essentially apply for the job.

United should be sounding out other options in the meantime. If Ole doesn't look up to it, and he's not proved anything either way yet, then they offer it to an alternative in the knowledge they'll accept.

I'm personally nervous of the Ole bandwagon and that it's going to sway back and for the the rest of the season. Make a statement that the job remains temporary until the season end and no final decisions will be made until then.

Following this up, I think the calls to give him the job straight away are a bit mental to be honest.

Much as I would love for it to actually be him, I'm nervous of it all going tits up, can't lie.

Having a baby. Well, technically my wife had the baby, but I had to hear about it.

Still on the fence tbh. Ole has done well so far, and is the first manager since SAF to actually understand the club. But we are still well inside the honeymoon period. Big tests coming up against Chelsea, Liverpool, Arsenal and City, and no real need to rush to judgement before the end of the season.

They are nothing short of mental imo. It's not like there's a queue of suitors waiting to snatch him up, so what would we gain by giving him the full job now?

Let him manage till the end of the season and make a call then, Mourinho has just burned us for £20m, far too early to risk making the same mistake again.

    Exactly.

You'd think sometimes what get posted on Twitter or discussed on TalkSport is is an actual representation of what Unites supporters, and the club itself, is thinking.

**** sake, leave it alone and then start planning properly in June. Would love Ole to prove his worth but I'm still very doubtful that's how it will pan out.

I genuinely think giving him the job during this season will prove to be a massive mistake.

    We'll see.

Should be good experience for McTominay and Pereira. Also, gives Fred a chance to do something.

Beyond that, I'm genuinely not arsed. The big game is on Sunday, to be frank.

The most important thing is get into the CL for next year, we won't win it this year anyway.

Or at least it was always very unlikely.
