Lets look at the downside and assume O'Shea is out.

On a brighter note Gyan is fit, what team will the Bruce start with or what team do you think he should start with.

With Gyan our record buy and Bendtner our new boy he must, IMO start with both and he must solve the LW problem by moving Sess there.

The CM two will be the one I struggle with but I think its there he will opt for steel with Catts along side ?. Not sure, will he stick with Colback who deserves his place or go for Gardner who deserves a chance.

    For me he will go...

    MIG
    BARDO...BROWN...BRAMBLE..RICHARDSON
    LARSSEN..CATTS..GARDNER..SESS
    GYAN..BENDTNER

Mind I could well be wrong.

I think your right Syd the only thing i dont like about it is Ricco at LB the lad is just not a LB at all.

But i guess he is all we have. If O`Shea is fit i would put him at LB

Gyan being fit is a bright note syd where you been for the last 6 weeks?
As for the team it sort of picks itself really as we have no back up or cover for the defence anyway so I would try this as we are on a hiding to nowt
    -----------------Mig-------------------
    ---Bardo-----Brown-----Bramble----
    ----------------Catts-----------------
    Larsson---Colback----Vaughan---Sess
    -----Bendtner---Ji---------------------

Would put Sess back on the wing as he plays much better there and actually scored in the PL playing from there.
Would also use Catts as a sweeper in front of the back 3.

I know what you mean about Gyan but hopefully Bendy will take pressure off and kick him up the arse at the same time. I think Gyan wants to be top dog and wont like the idea of Bendy taking his number 1 spot, I hope so anyway.

That's my thinking as well mate just hope it works and, I reckon dropping Gyan to come on at the end to score the winner will do more for his ever increasing ego than just blindly playing him because he cost 13mil.

    Mig
    Brown/Turner/Bramble/Bardo
    Cattermole
    Larson/Sess/Richardson
    Gyan/Bendtner

if Turner is fit, if not play Laing, has to be better than Richardon at LB, think I would prefer Elmo at RB than Richardon at LB

i think we should play the 4/5/1 to 4/4/2 formation that worked so well at the bridge last year with gyan in the welbeck role playing left initially and moving up top on the counter.

    mig

    bardo brown bramble richo

    larson cats colback sess gyan

    bendtner

    switch to

    larson catts colback sess

    bendtner gyan

Well it seems like whatever team Bruce sends out will be the wrong one in someones eyes.

Richardson played on the right at the bridge last year to combat Coles pace.

Its a shame that O'Shea is out, but I still think Bruce will go for a 4-5-1 and hopefully retain Sess on the left.

    Mig
    Bardo-Brown-Bramble-Richardson
    Larsson-Gardner-Cattermole-Colback-Sessegnon
    Bendtner

A strong and combatative midfield to compete with Chelsea, I would be happy with a point, but we may just sneak it 1-0

Many have gone for the following midfield:

    Larsson,Gardner,Catts,Sess

I stand to be proven wrong, but i just don't like it.

Two defensive players in the centre, a central midfielder on the wing (Larsson), we also don't know whether Sessegnon will solve our left wing problem (i'm sceptical). And that on top of a very flat defence. I believe this midfield will get pushed back and dominated. I hope not as i think this will become Bruce's favoured midfield.

    Bendy Baby Ji Sess

    Get stuck right into them.

Whatever happens, I hope Bruce drops that one-up-front idea. It makes things too easy for opposing defences. Bent struggled with it at the beginning of last season, and Gyan struggled with it at the end of last season. And surely nobody is going to say Bent and Gyan aren't good players! If they couldn't cope, how the hell is Bendtner or anyone else going to?

I'm not so sure Gyan does want to be top dog. I think he'd have been happier for Bent to take the pressure of regular scoring so he could wander and produce the odd flash of genius we all know he's capable of. If Bendy wants the Bent role, we might get just the best out of Asamoah.

Two up front for me - Gyan and Bendtner.

Not Ji under any circumstances. Don't get me wrong - I like what we've seen. He's got pace, good feet, and is big enough to put himself about if need be. But mid-week, he played in 44 degrees, and that has to take something out of you. Personally, I'd give him two crates of concentrated fruit juice and tell him to come back on Tuesday. I wouldn't even put him on the bench this weekend.

44 degrees, FFS, I'd have melted!

gardner isnt a defensive midfielder (sored 10 goals last season) and larsson isnt a center midfielder, sess played some of his best football for the club playing from the left...
