To date we have 43 points from 31 matches, maintain that until the end of the season and we'll finish on 64 points, no mean feat. The minimum ever points total to get into the play offs was Leicester in 2013/14 with 68 points, however the average over all the play off championship seasons needed to hit the last play off spot is 73.8 points. So by Niges reckoning, get 2 points on average from the remaining 15 matches, and we'll hit a season total of 73. It's getting tight, still remains doable, but huge credit to Nige and the lads irrespective of whether we make it, and who have so far exceeded my expectations given the owners apathy, in spite of their recent comments to the contrary.
Similar situation to mathematical magic number of points needed by City to guarantee avoiding relegation: 1.94 points per game.
We need to be better away from home, thats always going to let you down. Just winning at home isnt good enough if your aiming for promotion. Saying that, I do think all this play-off talk came too soon. It should have been managed better by Adkins and the club instead of piling pressure onto the players to maintain that unbeaten run and not only get into the top 6 but stay there.
I looked at the fixtures yesterday & I came up with 23 points from the remaining fixtures, so a total of 66. Not bad for a team condemned to relegation, not good enough for a play off chasing team. But come the summer, Bowen goes for £15 million. The rest get thrown away for nothing, rebuild again for a fight for survival. Hopefully the Allams **** off after they’ve cashed in from Bowen & a genuine new owner comes in, otherwise it’s guaranteed relegation next season with an abysmal points total. **** knows who the manager will be, but I expect Adkins to either get another job offered or he walks!
It’s not going to happen. We’ve survived, everything else that happens between now and the end of the season is a bonus.
Ah. You meant the next 2 games could yield 6 more potential promotion points if the results are in our favour. Wasn't clear I'm afraid. Now we know.
Been going to City since the early 70 's so my glass is always half empty , so sorry to be negative . Let's get the 50 plus points for safety and then look at the play offs . We have some tough away games at Norwich , WBA , Boro and forest . At home though we have plenty of winnable games . The thing is we probably need another run of 6 straight victories to push us into the top six . However , never say never .
yeah, but the defeat at blackburn was the first away defeat since october and we were without central defenders.
You can't play a fullback and a youngster as a CB partnership and hope to compete with the top 10 teams, you'll get found out
