Someone I work with is convinced the owner is simply laundering money , he is also convinced we are going down . Wish I'd never asked him how his weekend was .
I'm not sure of Gao......... Sorry to say I do not have a lot of confidence in him or his family............Which in turn makes me a bit wary of what to expect in summer signings............
My concerns are more short term than summer signings. As for Gao....he is a businessman not a philanthropist and we are a major asset. I am not afraid of any underhand dealings, but doubt there will be any money from sources outside our own earnings. Don't pretend to know anything about his financial position, but it is entirely possible that he intends to sell us in the future, so he has a vested interest in our survival, but that doesn't mean he has any reserves to invest. I think we are the equivalent of a nest egg tucked under the mattress should things go wrong in China.
Last night I put a tenner on Brighton going down. Felt dirty doing it as I like Chris Hughton, and have absolutely nothing against Brighton; but the 8/1 was too good to pass up. We’re 5/1 btw. If I were a neutral I would not be tempted by that. Or maybe I would. It’s probably about right imo. Absolutely confident we will pick up points from unexpected places. And we were always going to struggle against Cardiff, to the point where, when we equalised on Saturday, I was happy enough.
It shouldn’t have been a surprise. I know a few people predicted it, maybe including you (can’t remember)? It’s the manner of defeat that really ****ing hurts.
I agree...to lose after levelling was nearly unforgiveable....I say 'nearly' because we all know we forgive Saints eventually.
The “on a journey” stuff really grates with me. Not Pierre’s fault, he’s not to know that some unimaginative berk trotted that one out at every one of the interminable management conferences I attended during my last few years with Royal Mail.
I grit my teeth when that phrase is trotted out too....usually by some talentless airhead. I will forgive Hojbjerg because he is Hojbjerg.
It reminds me of the X-Factor contestants aged 16 that say "This would be a lifelong dream come true".
I agree that it is pointless bullshit phrase, on a journey could mean a journey to the conference. But someone somewhere must lap it up, like the "we march on" stuff. You guys are just being cynical
Yeah to throw it all away after working hard to get back into it was a sickener, draw would have been decent imo.
Yep a draw would have been fair I think. However, would have preferred to lose 1-0 than the way we lost 2-1
I feel the same, but a small part of me thinks that at least we showed we were capable of scoring. So we can score (though not enough)….what we have to learn is how to hold out, even if that is ugly.
The best I can say is...they seemed alive. ........just.......Couldn't understand the language though.......
Disappointing result. xG Southampton 1.5 v Cardiff 0.5 via @caleygraphics We’ve won some games where the xG was a lot closer. Need to find a way to beat teams that don’t want possession of the ball. Otherwise, onto the next one.
Even with a dreadful injury record, £20m for Ings is still a good deal in today's market. In the last transfer window there was talk of someone willing to pay £75m for Bournemouth's Callum Wilson. Come the end of the season, are their goal scoring records going to be SO different that you'd pay an extra £50m??? (Wilson has currently scored 3 more than Ings). The fact is that currently, any player that can score goals in double figures over a season is worth £20m. And we've not had anyone score more than 17 goals since we returned to the PL, how much would a peak of their prime Rickie or JRod be worth? even they'd only end up with a handful more goals.
