He wasn’t to start with. He kept having to drop deeper and deeper to get the ball. We made him rush, he misplaced passes. Then all of a sudden, nobody but Campbell further than you could piss away from our 18 yard box. We just stood off and let them play for 70 minutes.
Which is why I’m amazed we let him do that for the full match. Even at half time Nigel should have asked someone to stop him having the freedom of the pitch.
That was his reason for not spelling it pattie and chips. Of course, as his posts about streams showed, you took what he said with a Siberian salt mine. What happened to him?
Spot on. He should have started with Evandro or brought him on early. It was obvious. We just kept giving them the ball and all the possession. Not a good performance today.
City looked like they had a plan to pressure the Derby back 4 + Huddlestone to play a certain way. This worked up to 30min mark but then it started slipping off as energy levels fell away alarmingly early. Irvine should have been hooked at HT and certainly by 60m while it was still 1-0. Leaving Evandro until later meant we were chasing 2-0 and a different ball game. Derby were no great shakes and if we could have lifted tempo at 1-0 with good substitutions, Pugh being an obvious 2nd sub, we may have got something.
Did anyone else notice Bowen completely fanny out of that challenge that directly led to their first goal? Ball was his to win right in front of him, he stepped out the way of their rushing defender and just flicked a foot at it instead.
bad day to lose...no goals, no yellows till last seconds...hard to tell what happened...it was sixpointer for the promotion as i see...maybe it's unusual situation for the team... there were only sixpointers for non-relegation during last year
Can only comment on what I read ... but Grosicki would never fall into the finisher category it seems...
We were all round ****e today, things might well have been different if Grosicki hadn’t missed, but he did and we ended up being second best all game.
In a literal way, I'd imagine not that high - haven't we spent the majority of our time in the second tier? In a non-literal way, if you think back to the majority's pre-season prediction, it's a humongous achievement. Most people had us doing a Derby but in tier 2.
Shocking miss from Grosicki, he tried to get involved after that but when going down the line he mostly over hit the cross or didn't find a city player. On the other flank Bowen was awful, didn't get involved and was a big disappointment. We had a couple more chances but overall did no where near enough. The one thing you have to do when the team is off and giving the ball away is to defend well, unfortunately we made errors for both goals. I thought Derby looked decent but nothing special, Huddlestone's passing was has good has ever. Over all really disappointing display but I suppose any team would suffer when you lose all your central defenders. To finish my day off i got home and whilst eating a pizza snapped a tooth in half. I've had better Saturday's
