The EHIC entitles you to healthcare in the EU. No credit card required. No idea why you decided to pay.

Another triumph for Brexit that we won’t have that benefit any more.

as i understand it, it entitles you to the same healthcare benefits as a citizen of the country you're in. so if you are in a country that doesnt fully cover the treatment youre getting under its own state healthcare then you'll have to pay. For example, in spain, if you are taken to a private hospital or just get private treatment then you'll have to pay there too. though you should get public healthcare free since 2014.

Yep, my wife was hospitalised for two days, when we went over to Spain for the first time following her first recovery from cancer.
She picked up a tummy bug, which wiped her out and she needed to be put on a drip. Just showed the EHIC, and a letter from her consultant with details of her condition, and that was that. They didn’t even ask about insurance, and certainly didn’t ask for a credit card.
I remember listening to a radio phone in show, when I was in the midlands, less than 10 years ago, about a Canadian tourist who was hospitalised and needed surgery.
He was fully covered by insurance, BUT no one asked him to give details. The general consensus was that our hospitals aren’t geared up to ask for payments.

It’s actually the fault of the NHS (the government for not giving the correct resources) as they simply don’t have the facility or staff to do the billing and follow up. A crying shame

When my daughter was sick in Portugal the EHIC was useless. Hospital wouldn't accept it. Had no idea what it was. Luckily we were on holiday visiting wife's in laws and thus their health insurance covered family members.

My wife had hospital treatment in Portugal..........They weren't interested in any documentation . Mine was in Gran Canaria.......as I understood they were under EU rules. They didn't want to know. Last one was for my Grandson (18) in Spain.......I had to pay the bill as they were not interested in his documents.

And the way the treat people is appalling. They ask for money before even looking at what's wrong. If anyone doubts this, google it, its all over the internet.

Another classic colemanballs from Jean-Claude Juncker:

So, you know that rabbit hole that it is claimed Alice dropped into ... did anyone notice when we fell in?

Modern politics is now so corrupt, and sadly this is only an example, that you have to wonder at what point people will say "Enough"? Or is modern capitalism based on the premise that if there enough "winners", and you ensure that the "losers" are so focussed on simply getting by, that the system is maintained?

The problem with Corden's outrage is that he's assuming that when "the people" are presented with the logic of this kind of argument we'll collectively run screaming into the streets demanding change. The evidence is that we'll all stay at home and worry about getting by.

In South Africa I once asked a white liberal couple how they'd coped under apartheid. They said they'd got on with raising kids and running a farm. We all like to think we'd be out on the streets armed to the teeth, but would we?

There isn’t anything we can do.

Over a million people protested the Iraq war, and we still went. The system is the system. Just have to make it work for us as best we can.

Start investing early, learn about money and provide for yourself & your family, switch off from politics and give to charity when you can.

    That’s my advice anyway!

Unless they are a vinyl that's seen better days, has a little nick in the groove and keeps on playing the same groove over and over again. Like that Beatles album that has the centre made so the last groove comes back onto itself and never stops.

If 1 idiot politician continually uses arcane procedures to block amendments and policy (nearly always on a Friday,) why doesn't the speaker and the house move to get rid of those arcane procedures he abuses?

After all, once this idiot is gone there is sure to be another that utilises these sort of practices.

Why is this country based on maintaining loopholes?

I agree that laws should be debated rather than just passed but they should get rid of this "object" nonsense (as well as filibustering) and just set aside an hour or something to debate law changes and be done with it. And to stop filibustering they should be time limited.....which would rule Brian Cox out if he ever decided to become an MP.

It amazes me that they keep complaining about a man doing the same thing over and over again yet they don't just change/update the procedures.

I tend to agree with his reasoning that law changes should be debated though. Otherwise they might sneak all sorts of stuff through.
