IMAGINE. not yet completed the search/recovery and the French are demanding their fee.... I don't see Cardiff actually with holding it but it is like the councils.... before someone is even buried they are demanding money or even demanding the "rented premises" they may have been living in.
It took B.A.N.E.S council 6 days to ask for the money they might be due because my mother was in a home and died there.
I ignored the letter due to having to sort other stuff, and 8 days later another arrived .. this one threatened by way of stating you are liable for this that and the other unless it is paid legal action could be taken..... I kept them at bay for almost 3 years by delaying the sale of her house … had the request come say a month after she died, I would most likely have paid it then and there. How they presented there demand allowed my course of action to stop the interest that had been added [ was happy to pay the interest as the bill mounted ] …
She also had a Banes pension and that demand for overpayment again only took 6 days …….

Its an old adage but life goes on. Nantes are due the money and may have financial commitments that are due which they were expecting to pay from the fee.

I find this purported lawsuit sick and was wondering at the time of this tragic accident how long it would be before the subject would be made public. Sadly though business is business and the thoughts of families and friends take a back seat when it come down to money. I hope whatever happens with this situation the businesses involved have the decency to do it without any fuss and far from the glare of the public spotlight. Sad all around.

They may very well have tried to do so, but this is a big story and journalists will get their hands on the info and convey it to the public in a way that sells the most papers/earns the most clicks - unfortunately, instilling rage in people is an easy way for them to do so (pretty much what the Daily Mail does each and every day!)

I'm certain there will be clauses/insurance involved that was pre-agreed, so it's just about clarifying what needs to happen and by when, which I believe is what Cardiff have said. It's a terrible situation, but I don't believe it's fair to paint Nantes in a bad light over this.

As sad as it is Cardiff will have had an insurance policy in place on him (hope they have) so they will technically be paid. Nantes have upheld their part of the transfer by agreeing a price and accepting the offer to have it in payments.

It should of been under wraps but in this day and age it’s impossible that a news outlet didn’t know the agreed payments due date and ran the story.

It’s a sad time for Cardiff and the players friends and family but Nantes is a business and will need the money to offset what ever they done in the transfer.

Quite a few years ago I read that most clubs have "blanket" type insurance that allows for a number of things …. like a player being unable to fulfill contract due to ????? and there were quite a few things they could claim .. like "injury resulting in player never playing again" and result of accident etc etc etc … but it was not just as one player [ blanket meaning it covered all named ]
    ..
on a sad note? they managed to retrieve one body, hopefully in one way Emiliano, but what if a scenario was one managed to get out /escape and was / is still surviving? maybe they should be combing all the likely coast lines?

In some ways it may be a good thing that the family now know for certain, though devastating that any last shred of hope has now been taken away. Hopefully they'll be able to find the pilot also as his family deserve closure one way or the other also.

    RIP Emiliano.
