**** the wage cap man!!!

  1. Over the last few weeks i've heard countless **** about "Barton close to new magpies contract" and "Enrique wants to sign new deal". Instead of Ashley throwing millions away down the casino, he should spend it on keeping the players that are vital to our squad.

Barton and Enrique have not officially signed new contracts, and neither have formally accepted pay cuts. It's all just paper talk, they both may well want to stay, but they haven't stated that they'd happily and with massive joy love to stay at the club and take a 20-30 grand wage cut to stay.

I know it's hard to think that footballers may really want these wages, regardless of what they say about being loyal, they do want the wages. Some of them may be loyal, but footballers like Barton deserve the wages, because they are respectable men, and one massive injury can **** them for life.

We all loved Shearer, and i believe he loved his home club, that's why he didn't leave for Man United despite being treat like **** by Gullit. But do you really think he would have played for only 35k a week? I don't think so. He got a contract stating he would always earn a certain amount more than the 2nd highest payed player in the club, and he accepted it.

**** the wage cap Ashley, it's not going to do us any favours. I know the wage cap, apart from saving Ashley's money, may seem to help the club financially, but in the long run it could lose us some good players, and also stop us from signing some talent.

One of my main fears is pretty much summed up with this small statement -

    http://www.sport.co.uk/news/Football/50055/Wenger_Ive_always_rated_Joey_Barton.aspx

Other clubs WILL snatch these players from us, regardless of what they say like "i want to end my career here". If Barton doesn't get a good contract, he will leave for a club that will offer him an opportunity, and that goes for Enrique aswell. I love Joey and respect him, but i wouldn't blame him for leaving if Ashley doesn't get his fat arse off his chair and offer him the contract soon enough. Barton has stated he wants to stay, so why have the club not offered him the contract yet? I beleive it's because Barton has not accepted the pay cut, and the club don't like it. Ashley wants to save his own cash, and therefore doesn't want to offer the same wages Barton is getting now. The club put a 5 million pound price tag on him a few months ago when West Ham tried to put in a pathetic 1.25 million quid bid in for him. This is how ****ing ******ed Ashley is. 5 million for our best player? And the reason he gave? "Barton is one of the players that is contributing to the clubs financial dilemma with his high wages". No Ashley you fat piece of ****, it's you wasting millions at the casino, and shoving your fat mammoth gob with enough pies to fill 5 greggs shops.

Jose Enrique and Joey Barton are worth more than 35k a week, and i wouldn't blame them for asking for more. **** the wage cap, I WANT THE PLAYERS TO STAY.

On the other hand if we didn't have a wage cap then players would come to us for a final pay cheque...AGAIN! I believe Arsenal have a wage cap and they are not doing too bad are they?!

I also want Enrique and Barton to stay but if they want outrageous sums then unlucky!

Yes footballers careers can be ruined with an injury but so can't everyones careers? Even people on minimum wage could lose their career through an injury.

Also I thought the wage cap was 50k a week?

Basically I think I have just 'merked' your article but will you please calm down. I serioulsy get what you are saying but there is no need to make it seem like your yelling it from a roof top!

Definately need a wage cap because without we are a team full of mercenaries the play can start on 35k its hardly like thats a bad wage is it, if they prove to be world class then yes increase it but most footballers claim they just want to be playing and pleasing the fans so that plus 35k a week seems fine to me

I was thinking about reading that but then read iToons' comment then decided it would be for the best if I just posted an irrelevant smiley instead.

I think the wage cap could do with raising to match what I hope our ambitions are, or at least special dispensation / a separate cap for key players, so we could have squad players on up to £30/35k (whatever current cap is), then your Bartons, Coloccinis etc on up to £50k (an example amount), yes this is still lower than the current wages they'll be on, but at least it's a smaller wage cut than they'd otherwise be offered, and makes us more competitive in the wage market.

I seem to remember Shearer played for 40k a week throughout his Newcastle career, and by the same logic RIP, would you have gave Mandy Carole the 80k he asked for if we didn't have a wage cap?

And I wouldn't believe the apparent 5mil price tag that was on his head because if it was only 5mil, I'm sure old 'Arry or even Liverpool would have come in for him instead of chasing Charlie Adam for 10/12mil.

And if you gave Mandy 80k a week and he comes into the board room again in the summer and demands 120k or he's off, what happens then?

No-one's bigger then the club so get out and walk you lanky ****ing money-grabbing bastard. Or in this case, get out and walk to the helicopter...

Spurs have a 50/60k wage cap, similar to ours. The same i actually think. They're doing just fine. Barton 70k, Smith 65k, Coloccini 80k, Jonas 50k, Enrique 50k+. Thats why we have a wage cap. Cant afford this. Owen, Viduka and Martins were on about 250k a week between them, that's why we need a wage cap.

After the money problems we have suffered this article is up to Tash's usual standard. Mike Ashley has spent 300 million of his own money on NUFC bailing us out of the ****. Not quite tight in my eyes. We would all have loved 300 million worth of players but the fact is Shepherd sold us down the river and back again. If it wasn't for the new owner we would have been in trouble. Chris Mort - who we all agreed was superb, said we had 6 months left under Shepherd.

Don't know about anyone else but I am getting a bit sick of this "tight fat cockney bastard" crap. I have seen our club on the verge of utter disaster and we are a million miles away from that. For years and years supposed saviours, messiahs and legends have rode in to save us and none have truly delivered. You never know, the owner who is despised and the manager no one wants might just produce the goods.

These new financial rules might just see a big change of the tide over the next few years and we could well be in a position to take advantage.
