Wants to come back to prem and I understand we offered him a year extension but he wanted longer.

Would you offer him a year again, I loved him down the left and good cover for Sess.

Good morning Syd...The Steed saga is certainly a mystery which I'm sure will come out in the wash. As for your question, although I was sorry to see him go, I don't believe in bringing back players who have left, because it rarely works out well. Although there has been the odd exception to this rule with Pop Robson being a good example.

He was a player who I reckon everybody loved, however, I don't think a move back would be good for us or him. In retrospect I think he was jaded and the end result was too often so close - but no more! I certainly wish him all the best wherever he plays.

Yes - offer him another year then sell him again in January for an undisclosed fee, then get him to leave the club he's sold to and come back again - good business IMO!!

No Brainer in my opinion YES. Normally don't agree in bringing players back but would make an exception for Steed, think that there where things going on in the background which made him leave and those issues have either gone away or resolved

Without question, we are missing his goals.

no. too old. too slow. he is skillfull but we are moving forward, I don't want us to move backwards. Same situation with Zenden. Both have no clubs, don't want either to come back.

I didn't want him to go, as he offered something we are still lacking - flair.

Not sure I'd have him back though - George McCartney?

I was worried there by the way Syd - thought this was a same vein thread to the one on Dawn Thewlis or whatever she's called by murray out!! - if it was then it'd be a definite no for me!! I wouldn't do Steed Malbranque!! Dawn is OK but I wouldn't climb over my missus to get to her

Surprised by the mixed reviews here, as he was often our most creative player on the pitch - rarely lost the ball and often positive with his passing. Sometimes it looked like he had a piece of elastic stuck to boot and ball -incredible skills!

Having said that, I don't think it would be a good idea and he'd probably do better elsewhere.

No doubt he'd get a huge welcome back Steeeeeeeeeeeee-e-e-e-e-ed if we see him again in foreign colours at the sol.

Trouble is we have named our 25 man squad so, as I understand it, we would not be able to play him at least until the January transfer window closes and we are then able to change the squad. Because of that it would be a no from me.

Didn't he say that he lost "The fun" when he came to us. He seemed a bit ungrateful to me.

Cracking player on his day, unfortunately very little end product to justify a starting place could be ok for a berth on the bench.

Still can't forget his comments when he left us though, very disrespectful

    Syd,
The one word I would use to describe Steed would be 'guile'....he was full of it not like some of the cloggers we have on the pitch. I would like to see him again in the premiership performing on the stage where he belongs. He is the kind of player that the Likely Lads would imagine themselves being as they scored the winning goal to win the World Cup....dream on!!! Hope I don't have to explain who The Likely Lads were...even if they were only in black and white!!!!
