I think we might see a big day for the Nicholls yard at Sandown and it’s also great to see ITV showing the Irish races too!!

Agreed about the Irish races, just a shame the Irish Champion Hurdle is so early in the programme, before ITV coverage starts. Could have swapped it with the bumper <whistle>

No bets for me on the horses as focusing on the 6 nations and a few pints of the amber nectar. :emoticon-0148-yes::emoticon-0167-beer::emoticon-0167-beer:

A small bet for fun however...total points band 20-29 on Ireland v England is 15/4 so had a bit on that. Tough tough game for England today..

    Good luck all..

Why did you have to do that? Now I’m looking at comparisons of point scores in the past 5 meetings of the two.

    39
    22
    31
    34
    28

So if you think that it will be tighter than the norm then that score band looks good.

I have done absolutely no analysis Nass. :emoticon-0100-smile My reasoning is that i just feel it will be a tight game. England haven't done too well over there in recent years but its the first game for both sides and with extra pressure possibly for Ireland after last year's competition I don't see much in it. No scientific reasoning here..

I couldn't call it either way to be honest as to the winners..

After last nights game I think that is the approach to go for!!

I think the game today could be really damaging for England, I get the feeling that if one team loses today by a big score that they will have a major issue in getting sorted before the World Cup. I’ve been very impressed by Ireland in the last couple of years and it will take an amazing effort for England to win in their backyard

Well, troops, I got that totally wrong about Sandown being off. Some may give praise to the groundsman, re this, but I give thanks to Lieutenant Henderson and the Angel Gabriel. What, what?!? Still enough waffling let’s get down to brass tacks.

I like 2 at Sandown. COOLE CODY (3.00), as my regular readers are aware, is my long term fancy for the ‘Pertemps Final’ and he qualified for this race by finishing 6th in a ‘Series Qualifier’ at Wincanton on St Stephen’s Day. However, to guarantee a run in the Cheltenham heat Coole Cody needs a slight ratings increase from his current mark of 137. His recent form figures don’t particularly inspire but this can half be put down to chasing not being his game and it is worth remembering that his penultimate run over hurdles was at Grade 1 level and the run prior to that saw him romp home, in a 16 runner £20,000 handicap, at Cheltenham’s ‘Open’ meet in ’17. This incidentally was off 136 just a pound lower than the old boy runs off later today. It may sound dappy to say that I expect a horse, currently priced at 80/1, to run into a place but I do with Coole Cody here. The last thing connections will want is another ratings reduction, as this will severely hinder his chances of making the ‘Pertemps Final’ line-up, so you can guarantee he will be Trying with a capital ‘T’ this afternoon. I like him as an each-way wager, crew.

I’ve rated GIVE ME A COPPER (3.35) ever since his novice hurdling days and would expect him to finally emerge as a horse of some merit after this 3 mile handicap chase. A mark of 145 looks exploitable and, in fact, I would expect him to rate considerably higher than this in the not too distant future. Has only run in a couple of races over the big ‘uns to date and experience and fitness (off since November ’17) have to be taken on trust but this CGC and ‘Grand National’ entry remains a horse who could hit heights much higher than this class 2 event and I think he will do this starting with a win this afternoon.

Have a good weekend, team, and take care.

I think eminent poet could win again at Sandown today. I was at Sandown tingle creek day and he won well, up 8lb which could hold him back but I love a Montjeu in the conditions. I also like the O’Brien horse in the bumper at Leopardstown again a fame and glory gelding who will go well on good ground but I don’t trust the Irish ground descriptions.

Great days racing and rugby game ahead.I backed Uradel earlier this week 10s Ew in 2.00 at Ltown. He was unlucky to be brought down in the Galway Hurdle and looks like the money is down today as I know the owner likes a punt!Hopefully Le Richbourg will win today for Joseph in the 3.45, I have also backed him at 14s for the Arkle last month so hoping for an impressive run today. Think it will be a tight game in the Rugby but Ireland will win under ten points.

Backed Commander of Fleet earlier at 7/2, have him in my tracker, but looks like he's running on empty today, drifting out to 6/1 now...<yikes>
