Cheeky Bastard I have a foot of snow in my village but plenty of logs and oil so t shirt weather in my house. It's been a very mild winter so far and this is the first snow apart from a day of it in November. I have bushes in my garden coming into leaf which is ridiculous for January. I'll have to dig my car out tomorrow to get to Glasgow.Last year I had to hire a JCB to get me out this year a snow shovel should be fine. At the moment.
Pink snow? Yellow snow I am familiar with (don't drink yellow snow) but pink? Are we sure this is Scotland? looks more like Brighton to me.
First professional football match I ever saw was Millwall v Reading in the old 3rd Division South on the sloping pitch at cold blow lane every one thought I was mad to go there. I never went again Went back to watching Dulwich Hamlet and finally Spurs of course.
Could be worse, the other day a boy racer in Croydon had me briefly thinking I was in a Final Destination film when he nearly t-boned a fuel tanker about ten yards up the road from workmen replacing a gas main Here's an artist's impression of what that would've looked like if he put his foot down half a second earlier please log in to view this image
Actually....no!.But as her familylived in Watford and were from Latvia, I took a trip to Russia. Well,it was a Russian plane and they put American naval service men and ladies in with the Brits......and my future wife was in the navy group! She's been blaming the Russians ever since!!!!!!!? That was when the, then, soviets had Latvia in their pockets and made me curious,so……….and I had 3 days in Moscow and 4 in Leningrad. Hated Moscow but Leningrad was nice. But that bloody snow!!!!!
Very, very sadly Jeremy Hardy has died far, far too young (he was my age, FFS). As with Ronnie Corbett, Mark Steele, Jo Brand, Sean Hughes, etc., it helps to have a sense of humour to support Crystal Palace. He was a very funny man. R.I.P.
hear, hear. One of my absolute favourites. Lovely to hear a "political" comedian with such humour. A big loss.
Why is it that, whenever there's heavy snow, every news broadcaster dispatches reporters to stand in the snow to tell the public (many of whom have windows) that, yes, it's snowing and it happens to be really, really cold If the Great Fire of London broke out now, would they be sending reporters to stand in the flames to say that, yes, there's a fire and it's really, really hot?
A gentle, principled man. Used his comedy to try and change things, improve the status quo. Didn’t necessarily agree with some of his views but always respected him. Far too early to go. RIP Jezza
I will miss Jeremy Hardy a great deal and I think we will all miss him. At least those on the left will. He has been a voice of reason coupled with great humour. It is often difficult to talk about political issues without sounding like a crazed fanatic especially if it is a very serious issue Jeremy always managed to make serious points in a very funny way. We need Jeremy Hardy, people like him are so rare and special. Britain will miss him very badly.
Had the ability that the likes of Mark Steel and Mark Thomas lack of being funny at all times. They, like others let their passion loose so that the tone can be hectoring and the humour is lost. Hardy was always funny first.
A very unassuming bloke. He lived near us in Crystal Palace and I'd see him in the park with his daughter and the local supermarket from time to time. You could tell that he hated being recognised and shied away from anything to do with celebrity. Of course Jim '****ing' Davidson will live forever....it's usually the way of these things.
