I used to go to school with him he was a short kid with glasses who would not say boo to a goose back then. He was a couple of years below me and was mates with my Brother. Thank God we have not seen the tosser since school days if he behaves like that.
Often people with low self esteem who look for others that they can consider beneath them...give themselves some 'status' that they don't have in their life.
Glad he actually got dealt with, even if I would've liked the ban to be longer. In terms of wondering how he was getting by for 25 years without this being noticed, I'm sure he was flying under the radar with the harsh criticism and heckling of certain players for incorrectly attributed characteristics, all because they share certain similar physical 'traits'. Just finally boiled over. He probably still after this maintains he's not racist and it was just 'emotion and energy from the football getting the better of him when he was angry'. Alright maybe I'm projecting... Definitely not a sore spot for me, this... In a way I'd like the others who seem to be flying under the radar in that same way to finally just be out with it and get banned themselves. But it already pisses me off enough hearing them across the years consistently pick on certain players, don't need additional reason for my stomach to turn.
Just because the ban is only 3 years doesn't mean he will be allowed back in St Marys. It's a private place....Saints could ban him for ever if they wanted.
Is it my "racist antenna" working overtime, or was there a racist basis to the vitriol poured on Guly, and more recently Redmond by certain fans? I'm sure a number of us had our suspicions but the morons had one brain cell that told them not to use anything referring to the colour of the player's skin. Obviously calling a player a useless c*** is seen as acceptable.
Yeah it's hard not to infer it from their tone, language and choice of criticism. I've heard a bit of it towards Lemina too when he's had one of his 'off days'. I'm not particularly clean in my language in general life, and no sensitive soul, so as much as I disagree with some of our more 'emotional' fans it's usually merits no more than a disapproving roll of the eyes if that. We have had plenty of white players get the standard heckling and disapproving groans or jeers, but with black players sometimes with certain people it just seems you can sense what they really want to say, can't you?
I would love it if fans hurled abuse at Boris Johnson, Rees-Mogg and Farage. They are deserving of our utter contempt.
You are right but I am surprised that football fans of PL sides have been so indfferent to the whole issue particularly the likes of Liverpool, Manchester United and Tottenham whose fan base comes from Labour supporting cities that voted "Remain." German fans would have a ball mocking our politicians.
I would like to do far more than abuse them but I am a really nice guy. Perhaps Ralph needs to do the same job on me that he has done on James.
I definitely do not want political messages and chants at football....because strangely enough not all people vote or think the same...wrong to alienate some fans who are going to watch a game of football. In a way it is like racism or sexism...makes people feel that they don't belong and we don't want that.
Yet one of the biggest clubs in the world sends out a political message every time they play. And so do their adversaries. Celtic - very political, St Pauli as well {of the left persuasión}, Rangers, It is strange that political feelings are subdued particularly amongst the top 6, whose fans. I would have hoped to have been vocal in their opposition to Brexit.
I’m pretty sure any political banners are removed from EPL grounds pretty quickly by the Stewards Anyway, Football is where I shout at a different set of individuals who don’t do as I say
