Must be true. Only at Leeds Utd. Went to bed early happy as ****, couldn't sleep so thought I'd see the unveiling, only to wake up to this.
So Swansea are one of the eleven clubs who signed the petition to the FL...........would they be that petty.(regarding transfer)
If the reports are true that we wanted to pay the loan fee at the end of the season, then I don't blame Swansea for pulling out of the deal.
Agree with that. Lots been written about what happened in Wales. I have a theory that perhaps you have seen elsewhere. It appears that Swansea had multiple players in play to leave. It seems that a number of those went through today, and just perhaps, someone in Wales thought that they were heading towards a fire sale and that enough players had gone already. Perhaps if one or two of the rest had not gone, James would have been allowed out. Just a thought...
Seems like Hay agrees I think they realised just how much bad PR they were getting from the fans and put a stop. Will keep the fans happy but really not good for the player and I imagine lesson learnt for Leeds.
ive said elsewhere, we should have walked away from this two weeks ago. Lots of players as good as James in the world but because we stuck at it till last minute, Swansea were able to offload other players. We have history of our signings taking weeks to finalize and it bit us on the arse this time. We’ll never know how many seals have fallen through with our buy now pay sometime approach
In fairness, no club - not even Man City or Barcelona - pay the whole fee up front anymore. Virtually every transfer is 'buy now, pay sometime in the future', and it's always with certain clauses and potential add ons and bonuses when/if the player/club hits certain targets. Not really too fussed about this, anyway. Would've been nice to have another wide option in the squad, but I like that Bielsa is only interested in signings who are better than/offer something different to what we already have. No point signing players for the sake of signing players, we had enough of that under Warnock and then Cellino...
Good Morning to Matt and co from a snow laden Bardsey Well it could only happen to us but the person that must be really hurt by all this must be Daniel himself I believe he has been very dignified with the transfer believing he would become a Leeds Player. How can he possibly go back and play for them now he must be gutted I feel we should all support him. I remember a few years ago Asa Hartford thought he had signed for us from WBA and was over the moon onlyh to find out he had a whole in his heart and failed the medical it took him a long time to get over it
There are lots of players better than what we have, no point in fooling ourselves. We can’t afford any of them so they never get suggested to Bielsa. Not much he can do if there’s only one name on Orta shopping list to start
Nah JonnyLosAngeles is spot on they needed to balance their books and did a risk return profile of their potential sales and when the Bony deal went through then our deal for James was off. I feel sorry for the human who was shafted in this process
Any way have got to get to Leeds today for my op just hoping I can get the car out onto the main road
Before some kick off about this deal please read Phil Hays full diary of yesterday's events. There were other players but Bielsa decided on Wednesday that James was what he wanted so they concentrated on him https://www.yorkshireeveningpost.co...daniel-james-collapsed-at-the-death-1-9569621
Bony going saved them £100k per week, Montero another £85k per week then they allowed Carrol to go to Villa too and saved another £50k. James wage is peanuts compared to those so not that important now and they pulled the Fer deal too as hes capatain and the players were going nuts. Can see blood on the boardroom carpet today as this has nothing to do with Leeds this was an internal war between the owner and the former owner
